I am so sorry to hear that the mom has done something to the runt. She very well may have hid the pup especially if it died durring the night. Some dogs will hide a pup if it is no longer alive to seperated it form the rest of the litter. As far as eating it, I have nothing to go on to say she or she didn't.
Golden's don't do that so I'm not even going to guess.
I hope you are well and the rest of the pups are well also.

Just to get your information right!! Not all Mother Rotts will not eat the young!! We had one baby die and the mother would not let us take it away until she was sure it was dead!!!! Do not give information that you know nothing about please.
Futher more, I do not believe that the mother ate the baby even though it is possible if you can not find the puppy!! I would keep looking. Maybe possible if it died the other may have moved it away from the rest of the litter. She could have also as you said eaten it! Any dog can do this not just Rotts

This happened to me when my dog had her pups. She may have hidden it because she knew that it wasnt going to make it, like mine did. She lived about two days and then i couldnt find her and the mama had hidden her under a blanket because she had died. Congrats if it is still alive but most of the time the runts die. Thats all I can tell you!!

It is possible that she hid the pup. It being a runt she might have sensed something was wrong with it. Or she could have also very well have eaten the pup for the same reason.

It is very possible the mother ate it. Any breed or mixed dog is very capable of eating her own litter, and it does happen more than people think.
As far as people who said tail docking is illegal, they are likely from overseas. Many European countries have banned tail docking, ear cropping, and declawing.

i have a schnauzer too. i just think the mom hid it. i think she is very emotional and does not want her pup get taken away. schnauzers are very smart animals and will do silly things to get it their way. don't worry. just keep looking. look in cracks or something cause as i said dogs are very smart.
hope u find him :)

any breed of dog, cat, bird anything, any mother that detecs a deformaty or flaw they will eat it. its survival of the fittest as cliche as that may sound. but im willing to bet, if no other animals (or children) had access to it, the mom took care of it. sorry, i know its sad. good luck
