i have acquired a taste for cayenne powder, so now i actually prefer to have my foot seasoned with cayenne powder. i tried sprinkling a little on my dog's nose and he did not like it, though. so i was wondering if maybe i introduced him to it too abruptly. if i sprinkled just a little bit on his food, i am wondering if maybe he will get used to it so that he actually prefers this over food without cayenne. will this work?

To whom it may concern,
Please Help Me !! I feel very very worried. My dog is a 12 year Collie male, yesterday, I brought him to the Dog Grooming shop for a bath & hair cut.
When I picked him up at 6 pm, I found out that his right rear leg cannot stand straight !! He can only walk with his other 3 legs !!
The dog barber said that he accidentally cut his skin little bit, and he said he already stopped the bleeding. I asked him do I need to go to bring him to the vet. The dog barber said no need to do that, it is only a skin cut. At that time, I checked the wound, it seems about 2 cm, and stopped bleeding. That dog barber guy said that it is because he is old, and that’s why he cannot walk very good !! However, when I walked him to the Grooming shop in the morning, my dog walks normally and he is good !! I feel really sorry for him and cried a few times……

Today, I found out that he cannot still walk with that right rear leg !! I think today is even worse !! He hardly can stand up stable. He can still walk to the food and water, but with very big difficulty. He cannot stand straight with that right rear leg !! I feel really really upset, however, I do not have enough strength to hold him to the car. I think it us totally my fault that bring him to that bad dog barber. I think he is really in pain……
What happened to him?? I really don't know what that dog barber guy did to him !! Please please help me !! My email address is: clshaaw@sbcglobal.net

My puppy is active and is eating just fine but recently whether she is coming in from the cold or rain I can actually feel the heat coming off of her. Her nose is hot to the touch and her tongue is very hot when she licks my hand. Should I be concerned?

I have a 4 month old pit bull whom i've had for about 3 weeks now. The problem is he doesent want to walk on a leash. When i take him in the front yard on his leash he seems ok, but when i try to leave the yard he drags himself and trys to back peddle. I did some reading and i saw how you have to show the dog who's boss and just keep walking with out dragging them and they will catch on. Well i tried this and it ended up being horrible. when i walked him it was dark outside so i couldent see but he rubbed some of his pads on his paws raw. I couldent see this until i got home where there was light. i feel horrible about now, wish it was me not him. Why wont he walk? I've had about 8 dogs in my life time and they all were eager to walk. they would be pulling on the leash trying to go forward where as he's the opposite. He's not a shy dog either, he just refuses to walk on the leash. I've tried treats and have had him wearing his leash around the house. Is he still to young?

I brought my new puppy home and he has diarrhea. (or soft stools.. soft yellow... did it right in the kennel carrier I brought him home in)! (He also vomited but that MAY have been due to car sickness or nervous stomach).

Of course, I handled him a lot and he'd squiggle and quickly lick my mouth before I knew it.

I had made an appt with the vet and then got VERY SICK myself... so I couldn't take him. I had profuse violent water streaking diarrhea for 2 solid days straight and vomiting. I was so weak I stayed in bed for 2 days, I could barely get up.

I am OK now.

It could have been a coincidence of getting a stomach virus, but is it possible for puppies to pass on parasites, such as giardia, tapeworms, flukes, whipworms, coccidia, etc. to humans....

and other pets in the household, including both dogs and cats?

Thanks

P.S. I once had chronic giardia for over a year, couldn't get rid of it ... finally did... never did find out HOW I got it 10 years ago

She is a first time mommy and she had 9 and the first morning, there was 1 dead, with 2 laying with it. So I am not sure if she tossed them away also. But the 2 she kept pushing away dies eventually. Well now she keeps laying on them. She is deaf, but I figured she would realize what she's doing. I keep getting them out from under her, but she keeps situating herself again on top of them. Should I take them away from her and feed and take care of them myself? And FYI she is getting fixed ASAP!!! HEEELLLLLPPPPPP!!!! Thanks!

I was away from my puppy for a little bit and I heard her crying.. she sounded like she was in great pain! So I ran and found her.. I didn't know what had happened. I picked her up and she stopped crying but there seemed to be nothing wrong with her. Then I noticed her eye. It looked droopy with blood in the lower eyelid. I am not sure what happened to her! Please help! I don't know what happened and we can't take her to the vet because we don't want to go there and have the news that it will go away within a day or so.. HELP!

In France, professional breeders have changed the pug in a way which they feel is an improvement. Because pugs are known to have respiratory problems, the face has been changed (the pug nose has been altared). Secondly, a lot of French people live in apartments and prefer very little dogs. (The yorkie is extremely popular there). Most pugs in France now look about the size of a 3-4 month old pug puppy of normal size. They can be easily carried in your hands. Their eyes are much buggier, they are thinner than usual and their face looks weird, frankly.
This has been done to improve the "health" and to have a "more desirable size" pug. It makes me more than a little upset. The pug has been around for a minimum of 4000 years with little change in the original appearance of this breed, and has survived quite well "as is". Do you feel that this type of breeding (by the professionals) is ok? This was not done with random breeding, but by deliberate breeding.

My daughter has a 12 year old mix breed. He is very much an old man-dog, he is very white where he used to be dark grey and black, he seems to move alot slower, and his hearing and vision are bad. This winter I got him so hay for his house so he'll be warm, although it has been a mild winter. Since then he has only been seen in it a couple times. The neighbor dog is a younger female who sometimes lays in there during the day, I have chased her away and spoke to my neighbor about it. I work nights and when I come home in the early morning hours he is asleep on our porch. Why won't he sleep in his hay filled dog house? Is it because he is old and maybe forgot? I can't imagine that the open porch is warmer than his house. I think the female next door is partly responsible but I think maybe he doesn't like the hay-we used to bag up leaves from the fall and put the leaves in his house throughout the winter. Any thoughts? Moving him indoors is NOT an option.

She looks like a black lab but is a B/C-Walker Hound mix. Her right eye is all black fur around it. The left looks more and more brown over the last couple of days. What could this be?

This is me just being curious, but I wondered something:

If someone was wanting to get a new dog, but didn't know whether to get a mutt or a purebred, what would your insight be? For example, people say a pro of getting a mutt is that they usually don't have as many health problems as purebreeds.

What do you think? What would you tell the person asking the question, and would would your opinion be.

My husband and I brought home 2 male puppies aprox. 6 weeks old that had been dumped along with 4 others where my husband works. The other 4 seemed more energetic and playful. The 2 we have are sluggish and sleep most of the time. They are all wormy which I have taken care of, and they are all mal nutritioned and our 2 are very dehydrated. We live in a very rural are so there are no vets anywhere close. I have made sure they have water, and I have fed them but not to much. Being that they are so mal nutritioned they try to eat to much, to fast, and that causes them to throw up. I feel their dehydration is the main thing I need to address and I am wanting to know if there is anything else that I can do to help them? Bless their hearts, when they do wake up they try to play and run but they just don't last long. Their energy goes down fast. Anyone have any ideas? I thank you all in advance.

I have a 1yr old Great Dane Boxer mix, he's huge and getting bigger everyday. My problem with getting anouther dog is that I dont really want another one as big as he is. I would really like to have a small or mid size dog for him to play with. But I dont want him to pummel the other dog to death, and I dont want to get something that will pummel my 4yr old daughter to death. I'm not looking to get a pure breed. Just your average pound puppy, I know were to find out about differnt pure breeds and there tempermats.
I would like to know from people about pound puppys... And what kind of pound puppy I should get.

We would like to own a dog that's small in size, the one that can be carried around in the arms, who doesn't shed much fur. Our family is not very active but we have a big fenced yard, .83 acres to be exact, so we need something that's doesn't need to be accompany by owner when it needs to go. More over she or he needs to be good with young children, got any breed like that?10 fast points
