About a month & a half ago I bought a pedigree beagle for $250, and I took it home and my mom loved it but my dad said that we werent ready for another dog. (Our last one died of a blood infection/ pancreatitis, and it was heartbreaking.) So yesterday, he brings a beagle/ bassett mix home. Is that messed up or is it just me?

It's almost as if she has OCD. She will lick herself for hours if I don't tell her to stop.

This is for anyone who has ever had a large dog and a small dog simultaneously. I’m really looking for people with personal experience with this. If you have insight on any part of this question, please answer!

I have a 6 month old dachshund. When she is a year old, I plan to get another dog, but I would like it to be a larger one. I have not yet decided on a breed (I still need to do more research), but I wouldn’t go any bigger than a Doberman. My concern is, will these dogs be able to get along? Has anyone ever had their larger dog accidentally harm their smaller one during play? Or maybe harm them on purpose? Is the smaller dog dominated during play? Does the smaller dog feel insecure with the larger one around, and does the larger dog bully or mistreat the smaller one?

I know I want two dogs, but I won’t sacrifice the happiness of my doxie. Ideally, I’d like a larger or medium sized breed, but I’ll get a smaller one if having a big dog in the house will cause her trouble.

He is broken out on is belly and all around his groin. Poor thing, I want him to not itch. He doesn't act like he feels very good either. Hasn't even asked to got outside yet today. When that happens I know for sure he's not well. Please does anyone have any good advice. Please everybody, be nice. Sometimes I get answers from people who are poking fun. This is a serious matter for me because I don't drive and it's hard for me to get him to the vet. Thank you in advance for all of your advice. rocksmom

My exhusband decided that he couldn't keep our Cocker Spaniel so he brought him to me, covered in fleas and skunk smell. I took him to the vet, got him frontline and then had him groomed. I waited the appropriate time from dipping at the groomers to apply the front line. Nothing seemed to happen. I called the vet who said that it may take a week or more to see improvement. Nothing after a week. He recommended a repeat treatment. i did that. Still no relief. Our house in now infested as is the dog. What can we do now?

I have a German shepherd who was diagnosed with panosteitis around 6 months of age. I want to have her spayed, but as she also belongs to my husband and he wants to breed her it is taking time to get him to see that this is the right thing to do.

My question is this: our pup is now right at a year old and has not been spayed - she has also not come into heat. Is this normal? Is this related to pano? Should I be as worried as I am?

And I have gathered sources in support of having her spayed - I am just concerned that she's not spayed, is a year old and has not gone into heat.

I have a 6.2lb, 9 month old Silky Terrier puppy named Rocsi. She's very well trained - sits, stays, rolls over, and comes when called (usually). She's a happy, smart dog - but craves attention ALL THE TIME.

She cries when she thinks you're going to leave or just not looking @ her, & when crated, she chews on the bars, shakes them with her teeth, shakes & pants endlessly. She won't even sit or lie down and usually urinates w/in the first ten minutes of being alone (although she's housetrained).

We've tried everything to break her of this insecurity. We've done several weeks of training (reduced attention prior to departures & arrivals, reduced attention during daily activities - except when she follows a command; regular walks to prevent pent up energy, getting keys, shoes, & coat but sitting down so to desensitize her to our pattern of behavior for leaving, & even vet prescribed meds to calm while we train her) & nothing seems to correct her behavior.

What do I do?
