Is it ok for a dog to wear dog clothes all the time? does it do anything to their fur?

i just wanted to add to this question since some people are jerks...The dog I am dressing up has little to no hair. The clothes are to keep the dog warm and I just wanted to make sure it would be ok. thanks.

Yes of course it OK to put clothes on your dog! But if its a long haired dog, then you need to make sure you take off the clothes once in a while as the fur can matt and tangle up underneath it. And boy can they can get stinky from wearing them a long time. Just think if you wore the same clothes all the time and never got a shower? You will have to wash them too just like you do your clothes. I use Simple Solution and I buy it by the gallon at the pet store. I pour it right into my load and it really gets the stinky smells and stains out of their clothes. My dogs have their own detergent, and their own loads. Its best to keep their stuff separate from yours. You wouldn't want those stinky smells and dog hairs mixing with your wardrobe right? I sent a link below with a pic and some product info.

while dogs do look cute in clothes, and some need a jacket or sweater in cold weather, i wouldn't recommend keeping clothes on a dog all the time. there is absolutely no reason for a dog to always have clothes on. they aren't meant to wear them. if the clothes serve a purpose (keeping him warm), or it's for a special occasion, that's one thing, but if you are keeping clothes on the dog all the time, that is just selfish. he isn't going to be comfortable wearing clothes all the time, just let him be a dog!

I have sweaters for my old dog, and he loves them! I change it once a week, and let him go without for a couple of hours during which time I scratch his back a lot, you know, the areas that are usually contained under the sweater.

Now, as far as the other types of doggie couture goes, I say it's ok as long as the outfit is comfortable...all that stuff with hats etc. just irritates the animal, which isn't right just for a human's amusement!

It's okay to put clothes on a dog, it's not going to hurt them, I just think it looks a little silly, but hey if that's the look you're going for, you're heading in the right direction.

My daughter dresses our lab up whether the dog likes it or not. But not in dog clothes..she puts wife-beaters, tshirts, dancewear, anything..the dog just sits patiently. She's a good dog.

I wouldn't say all the time. Outside for sure if it is a smaller dog that gets cold easily. But not around the house all the time.
