ok two weeks ago she went to the vet they xrayed her and sent her home no specialist will see her for less than 500 dollars for an ultrasound.if i had the money she would have been seen already i wouldn't just not take her to a vet.she is a very loving dog.and has the best personality for a pet but no one will assist me.spca and humane society are non profit orgs. and no one will help me with her.i want her to live. they say that u can get the help u need for a sick animal from those orgs.but no.and when something happens to her they r gonna tell us we neglected her but we r out of resources.so if you can help and really help let us know thanks dj.

I have this two year old chihuahua that is scared of toys... I bought a loofa dog (those long creepy dogs with a huge smile) and he freaks out and runs away. I know why he is afraid - my sister was playing with him one day and made the toy (it was a stuffed dog with bulging eyes) attack him. She made growling noises and made it chase after him. Now I can't get him to play with anything and it breaks my heart since he used to adore them. Now the only toys I have had with him are stuffed animals (mostly stuffed dogs) and haven't tried any other toy because they are all ugly. haha Like he cares. But anyway, was wondering if someone had some sort of technique that works.

I have two dogs, a male 2 1/2 year old lab mix, and a female1 1/2 year old yellow lab. The male chewed on stuff when he was really young, but grew out of it. The female chewed on EVERYTHING when she was young, and grew out've except when it comes to their bed. We have hard-wood floors, and its a chilly North Dakota winter, even with the heat on, the floors are still cold so of course they need a bed. We had a couple of cheapo walmart beds that the male had forever, and when we got the female, she chewed them up. We waited until she grew up, got them another bed, again she chewed it up. I found a bed through Orvis that was supposed to be unchewable($180, but we were desperate!), and it just lasted 2 days. I just got home from work, and she had chewed off the grip on the zipper, then somehow unzipped the bed, and pulled out all of the wood chips and stuffing! What the ****?? Has anyone gone through this, and been able to solve it, or are the dogs just out've luck for a bed.

My dog was bit by a squirrel 3 days ago. Her rabies vaccine expired in July of 06. I just got so busy last summer, I totally forgot about her vaccines. I know for sure its a squirrel bite, cuz the squirrel was in my basement (fell in through an old chimney vent). Her vet said theres nothing to do until the 10 days is up, I guess by then, they can tell if the dog has rabies. Does anyone know what the soonest is you could tell? My vet told me to watch for shaking and trembling and severe behavior changes. Her behavior is fine, but honest to God, I swear I saw her whole back end tremble earlier, and she vomitted today.

...need to be "dumbed down" & soaked in syrup to make it palatable to the masses?

Just how "dumb" does one need to go? Room-temperature IQ? Shoe-sized?

Can folks manage to understand big, scary words like "housebreak" instead "use the bathroom outside"(you *HAVE* one outside???WOW)?

Can they comprehend the fact that 99.how-many-more-9s % of their animal's behavior problems are THEIR OWN FAULT-***NOT*** breed, sex or COLOR related?
That ALL dogs are the same SPECIES,therefore ALL have the same training, feeding, maintenance & GESTATION (is that too scary a word?)? Your mutt is like every other mutt OR purebred animal in EVERY BASIC PRINCIPAL?

That if their dog is TOO FAT,*they* are FEEDING IT *TOO MUCH*?

Could we *TRY* to be adults here? Use "grown-up" words like PUP instead of "wittle baby doggie-woggie"? Penis & vulva instead of "thingie"? Dock & crop instead of "trim" or "snip"?

And PLEASE=>>>NO MORE "What should I name it?">>>

I have had my shitzu for about 3 yrs now she started having these weird random attacks about 2 years ago it's almost like she is drunk she stumbles around and can't focus and shakes my shitzu hasn't had a spell in awhile. On the other hand I just got a little sleeve pekingese puppy and this morning I noticed that she was doing the same thing my shitzu does with the wobbling and the shaking and then after a few seconds she is fine just like my shitzu! I am going out of my mind thinking that there is something somehow that I did that caused this, something I used to clean with or I don't know what to do, the vet told me with my shitzu that it could be nerological but how could I possibly get two dogs with that same problem. Someone help me please I am freaking out!

I have a 3 year old Pomeranian who gets walked more than 4 times a day and during this time he pees and poos during the walk. My family and I have raised him up from when he was a puppy so we are the only people who have trained him; he is not neutered and have started having this problem with him lifting his leg in the house to pee on the couch, plastic bags, garbage cans, doors, and even the fridge.
It is getting to a point where things are stained with pee almost on a daily basis and it is frustrating because he only does this (lifting his leg to pee on things in the house) when no one is home. I cannot catch him in the act nor can anyone in my family.
He is well behaved the rest of the other times and knows when he has done bad when we get home, realize the pee, and yell at him; he goes to hide. I realize this is not an effective way to "make" him stop lifting his leg in the house.
Will neutering help this problem? Does anyone else have a similar problem? Any advice helps

I want my next dog to just sit at my feet or across the room from me. Dogs that follow me around and need constant attention are annoying. I don't need a lecture, just name some breeds please. I can do my own research on them.

I took my dog to the vet this morning, and was told i need to start socializing him. Now heres my question. How is the right way to do that? I know taking him to parks, petsmart, getting him in alot of different settings, etc but what is the right thing once there? He is a 6 month old lab mix, and great with family, but when taken to places such as vet and dealing with other people and animals, hes fearful. Any suggestions will be appreciated! I really love my dog, so please be serious with answers! Thanks again!

Ok, maybe she isnt so old, one, but I adopted the greatest dog, but she is still defecating inside, on occasion. For the most part, she goes on her own on the patio, which is fine, but when its shut, she doesnt indicate if she has to go, she just does, on the rug. Also, I usually wipe it up with cleaner, will this stain? There is still a hint of it, but I am going to rent a rug cleaner. Thanks

My min pin, who is about 2, has recently decided he does not want to be left alone! The past 2 times he was alone, he started to tear up the carpet along the door, AND, we have a door that we close from the kitchen to the front of the house. Yesterday, he clawed to door until it opened, THEN when he got through, he ATE one of the blinds..the wooden slats AND the string on our front window. OH MY GOSH I AM SO GOING TO HANG HIM!!! So, now that I have to find some sort of obedience place to take him, what do I do in the mean Time? any suggestions??? We have recentlly moved to a new house, but we have been here for a month, and there is NO WAY he should still be weird. PLEASE HELP!!
