I have a 3 year old Pomeranian who gets walked more than 4 times a day and during this time he pees and poos during the walk. My family and I have raised him up from when he was a puppy so we are the only people who have trained him; he is not neutered and have started having this problem with him lifting his leg in the house to pee on the couch, plastic bags, garbage cans, doors, and even the fridge.
It is getting to a point where things are stained with pee almost on a daily basis and it is frustrating because he only does this (lifting his leg to pee on things in the house) when no one is home. I cannot catch him in the act nor can anyone in my family.
He is well behaved the rest of the other times and knows when he has done bad when we get home, realize the pee, and yell at him; he goes to hide. I realize this is not an effective way to "make" him stop lifting his leg in the house.
Will neutering help this problem? Does anyone else have a similar problem? Any advice helps

We had the same issue with our Yorkie males who WERE neutered.

I would check with the vet to see if he has a bladder infection of some sort. Since our Yorkies, we have always kenneled any dog we got when we are gone, even at night. Some of it could be happening while you are sleeping.

It will be hard at first to kennel the dog, but they will get used to it and will feel comfortable in their "own" space. Offer him a special treat every time you put him in and give him lots of praise when you let him out.

It is your house and you should not accept that sort of behavior.

Sometimes I'm not home all day and there's nobody that can catch the dog. So I put a box of kitty litter by the door. I sprinkled some litter on his urine then wiped it up and put it in the box. The dog learned quickly that this is a place for him to go if he can't wait for his walk. Now at least he will use the box and not the house. Works great, even though the neighborhood cats make fun of him.

Have you tried a crate for him? There are many different varities of crates so you can pick one that you like, make sure it is big enough so he can sit, lay down and stand up with plenty of room, but not really big or else he will pee in there too. A crate should help with your problem because he is in there when you cannot watch him. If he is in the crate with toys and maybe leave a radio on, he will be happy. hopefully that helps!

Neuter him although he may still lift some since you have waited so long to neuter him. My advice would be to crate the dog when you are not going to supervise him since he is peeing when no one else is around.
