What's the youngest I can start using Frontline on him?

I have a 7-week-old APBT.

csmutz2001: I've had WAAAAAY better results with Frontline Plus, than with Advantage. Advantage didn't do squat.

7 weeks is fine... just make sure you get the right dosage for his weight... go to the vet have him weighed and buy advantage! Not frontline! Advantage kills the fleas within an hour and stops them from biting in 15 minutes! It also repells ticks!! The vet will give you the right dosage amount for your puppy!

This puppy is really young to have already been treated once with Advantage. If you have a serious flea infestation then nothing not even Advantage or Frontline will keep the fleas off the dog. They'll jump on and bite him once and jump off but if there are a lot of fleas he'll still have a lot on him. I would spray my premises, the area the dog lives and sleeps in with a good flea spray, then I'd bathe the puppy with plain old shampoo, later him up good and leave it on until the shampoo actually dries ( this will suffocate the fleas that are on him) Then two days later put on frontline or advantage. I think he needs to be 8 weeks old but you can check on the package it does say how old they should be.

You can start using Frontline plus when the puppy is 8 weeks old. Just make sure to weigh him so you get the right weight category. Frontline comes in 0-22, 23-44, 45-88, 89 -132 sizes

The youngest you can give it is 8 weeks. As for the first answer, Advantage does nothing for ticks. Frontline will take care of both fleas and ticks. Remember that any topical flea/tick medication doesn't start working immediately and your vet will tell you to allow a full month for the product (no matter what brand) to be fully effective. Hope this helps!

I found a tick on my 3 month old puppy I just adopted. Should I buy the frontline? Also the puppy has been panting every night. very warm. Could he be runny a temperature? from the tick?

Read the package the Frontline comes in! If it doesn't say, then there should be a small instruction booklet in the inside of the package, or you could simply go to petco, and ask a sales representative for assistance.

On their web site it says it's gentle enough to use on puppies 8 weeks of age or older without weight restrictions.
