There are many possible skin problems. It could be mites/mange, allergies, fleas, or he may also have something irritating the actual eye. I know you may not have the money, but you can't start proper treatment without a proper diagnosis. Talk to your vet to see if they offer any type of payment plan or if they take Care Credit which is a credit card used for medical expenses. Hope this helps and good luck!

You should take the puppy to the vet. An average puppy usually within the first year will cost you $500.00 on average. Some vets do have payment plans options where they will send you a bill and pay like a doctors office, but it depends on the vet. This infection needs to be treated by a vet. Also you might want to wash all the sheets and dog bedding. Another thing I would give the puppy an oatmeal bath to relieve the itching sensation for a little bit. But with the puppy scratching so bad to lose hair is a serious concern as a puppy owner. Must see the vet and the average on the cost to seek a vet is $40.00 to $80.00 for the visit and prescription. Visiting the vet is well worth the pain in your pocket than seeing your puppy suffering through.

Doesn't sound like something you can treat yourself. Generally if they're scratching badly enough to loose hair it's a flea allergy or maybe skin mites and you'll need to have a vet give you some ointment for it.
It could also be other things like ringworm which is a bacterial infection that a vet would need to treat. It's best to get your puppy to the vet now rather than wait until it's really bad and have it cost even more.
I know you didn't want to hear it, but a vet is the best option.

You definitely should take your dog to the vet. If you don't have the money, some veterinary offices accept a credit card called CareCredit, it's like a medical credit card, and that way you can use it and it's actually interest free if you pay it off in three months. go to www.carecredit.com to find a veterinary hospital near you that accepts it and then apply for the card. You can even use that account before you even have the physical card by just printing out that info that care credit gives you (the account number is key) and taking it with you to the vet. It also sounds like your dog could have mites, which can get very serious and give your dog a huge amount of discomfort. Bring your dog to vet ASAP

It sounds like its an allergy... But the only way to figure out what hes allergic to and to get the right kind of eye drops is to take him to the vet.. Call an animal shelter or something to see if there is somewhere that you can take your puppy to the vet that wont cost alot.... I would do it ASAP so that he doesnt end up scratching his eye... then you would have a problem! Vet exams cost between 25-30$ and the drops would be like 5 $ so Go... NOW!! =)

Listen, my corgi went thru this too...it sounds like the mange. I really didn't have money to go to the vet, but somehow I managed to. I ended up spending hundreds of dollars for this or that test and for this or that medicine. I finally had to take the dog back to the rescue shelter that I bought it at. I was so upset because they heartlessly talked in front of me about hurrying up a putting her down before their lunch break. I called and complained about how cold that sounded....Another rescue center took her in and promised to try and save her life. Yay!! I called to see how she was doing. They were angry about the dog and myself being put thru all the testing and the vet thinking that she had an allergy. There is a dip/shampoo that does kill the mites. Research it if you can!!! After about a month of them putting her thru the dipping/washing treatments-she was ready to come home.....Did you know that you can catch this from your dog???? Get help asap!!

You just described his symptoms,
ie. scratching around eye
and hairloss
It could be a lot of things, fleas, an allergy but it could also be mange either demodectic or sarcoptic and without a vet doing a scraping there you can't diagnose either of them.

You find the money to take him to the vet. Owning a dog means you have to take responsibility for it. If you can't afford to look after it properly, find it a home with someone who can.
I don't have any money to spare, but if one of my dogs needs the vet I find a way to go.

it could be a fungus, go to your vet and be specific about what you want done, you should ask for a skin scraping to be done to find out if it is a fungus and how to treat. often times some rescue groups would be willig to help with the bill.
