I also have a pomeranian, it sounds like yours has a luxating patella. It means that the knee cap shifts in and out of place. The only way to fix it is surgery. My pom has it as well but it doesn't seem to bother her...she will hop a few steps to get it back into place. It is common among smaller breeds.

I would bet my paycheck that it's a Luxating Patella. Small breed dogs and especially Pom's have a problem with knee caps popping out of place. Ask your your vet to check his knees out. The groove that the knee's sinues slide up and down in is too shallow and the sinue slips out of the groove and causes pain and discomfort until it pops back in place again. This is surgically repairable for anywhere between $700 to $1,300 depending where you live. They dig the groove out and make it deeper and tie the sinues down on each side so that it slides better and is stable in the knee. This is a hereditary problem they get from the parents and most have this problem, some just more severe than others. If left alone he will get severe arthritis in the knees. Good luck.
***** More info**** If the dog is losing bladder and or bowel control at the same time, tongue turning blue, shaking, twitching, convulsing on her side, then acting disoriented, then yes seizures are possible, unless they are just small focal seizures. Any pure pred dog especially small dog can get this and it could be a hereditary problem. The more dogs are bred down, the more defects they get and pass down to offspring, and seizures are known problems. I would have your vet check on this possibility, both luxating patellas and epilepsy are treatable problems, but need to be diagnosed by your doctor to be treated. If you want to try to help rule out seizures, then take a rectal temp asap after one of the episodes, because a dogs temp spikes during a seizure. Normal temp for a dog is 101 to 102.5 degrees, anything over this and it's fever and he might have had a seizure, but do it as soon as you see it happening, as soon as the seizure stops the dogs temp will return to normal pretty quickly.

I've read a lot about Poms cause I was given one last August as a birthday present, and they tend sometimes to have problems with their patellas (knee caps?). I think you should take him ti the vet just to make sure what's wrong and avoid him from getting worst or maybe developing a painfull condition. Good luck.

How old is your dog? He\She could be becoming arthritic. Take him to the vet and get some Rimadyl.
