I purchased Natural Dog Biscuits, from sams warehouse. They are a holistic hard dog cookie. The ingredients are chicken, wheat, peas, cranberries, carrots & apples. All natural and free of animal by-products, artificial color and preservatives. My question is ...are cranberries and apples toxic?

i have a nine month old shih-tzu puppy and she started her period last saturday. how long are small dog's periods supposed to last? she's highly irritable, always tired, and cold. but its also a real big pain in the but to change her puppy pad every hour. we're wanting to breed her, so getting her "fixed" is out of the question. but how long will this first period last?!?!?!

NOW it starts…read the article below dated today. The LEGAL talk of the need for ‘guardianship’ will sweep over the nation in the guise of peoples’ need to take action and receive remuneration for the loss of a pet (loved one). This is NOT GOOD … once we are ‘guardians’ our rights as property owners will no longer exist, and the days of owning an animal will be numbered.

We have a rott mix puppy and we know the mom dog and she had this problem last year as did another dog on the property. What is happening in that the puppy is scratching and making bald spots some spots have surface sores (not deep) around the base of the tail, on the back, and underside of legs and belly. I have checked him for fleas and ticks and have found none. I have also got an anit-itch cream to put on the bald spots. Does anyone else know what may cause this? The other dogs I haven't seen since the puppy started with this problem but I know that over the winter thier hair grew back and seemed to be fine, but the all bald in the same spots and have itching. Can anyone help with this? Thanks

I work at a vet clinic, and a lot of people come in asking for an anti-anxiety medication, or a sedative for their dog that has separation anxiety, is very fearful, or has some other kind of behavioral issue. I personally would rather try working with this dog's behavior through training and other techniques before I tried using medication. How do you feel about it? I am just wondering.

I have to give my dog some pills something about crystals in her urine or something and she wont take them. I have tried putting them in her hard food in her soft food and I've tried shoving it down her throat the way my mother used to do it but the dog just throws it up I found she will eat it if I crush it up and mix it in with her soft food but otherwise she wont eat it will crushing it up and putting it in her food do the same thing or is that bad?

Healthy, 106 lb. rottie suddenly lost appetite, became lethargic, started vomiting severely, drinking huge amts. of water. Vet said all blood work, including creatinine, etc. were perfectly normal. Dr. did exploratory surgery, looking for blockage, etc. Nothing found, all organs appeared normal. He never stopped vomiting, never recovered after 10 days or so.

I am not talking about breeding here, so the over population of dogs is not an issue. I am looking for specific REAL world reasons against fixing an animal or if you have any negative experiences from fixing your dog. Serious answers only.
