Oh, she is in the house... we don't let her out without someone with her because of the other stray dogs.

First, if you think she's in heat, do the kind thing and get her spayed.

Second, if she barks during the day, put her on the leash, say "NO!" or "Uh-Uh!" firmly to her and put her somewhere away from you and your family - you don't have to lock her up, it just needs to be somewhere where she can't see you. The barking will stop soon. When it does, go and praise her and give her a treat.

Keep doing this and she will learn that good behaviour gets her treats, while barking will result in her being separated from her "pack" (this is real punishment for a dog).

If she's barking at night, for no reason that you know of, just ignore her until it stops - do NOT go to her, even to shout at her to stop, because you will have just rewarded her and taught her to carry on barking to get your attention. Negative attention is better to a dog than no attention at all. If you leave her, she will soon get bored with it.

I think you should bring her to the vet to make sure she is not barking in pain some dogs whine when in pain and others bark, If she is in heat get her spayed its the only right thing to do if you don't intend to breed her, and if its not any of the above she is just a loud naughty dog I have found a solution that worked for my dog, My dog barked like crazy whenever my fiance came home so one day I bought a plastic water bottle (like you would use to spray plants) and filled it with water and everytime she barked I would spray her, it took about 4 weeks but now she only barks when strangers are at the door.

Hate to be antagonistic, but it is a girl right? Only girls go into heat. If she's bleeding she's in heat. If you spayed your dog, like you should have, she wouldn't be in heat. If you didn't, that would be your first priority. If this has no effect, try an animal behaviorist. It may be something simple. Try giving her more exercise, letting her outside/inside more often or pay more attention to her. You can also use a beeper to train her not to bark. YOUR VERY LAST OPTION IS TO HAVE HER VOCAL CORDS CUT!! UNDER -NO- CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU USE A SHOCK COLLAR THEY ARE UN-HUMAN!!!!

I think youre dog wants to "say" you something through its barking. It can have many reasons why it is doing that.It might smell something dangerous, and wants to save you.I don't know what's youre relationship with youre dog, but it might feel that you don't spend enough time with it, and wants to attract youre attention. It's possible that there is an another dog around there, and youre dog wants to communicate with it.So I suggest you to pay more attention to it, try to say kind and soothing things to it and try to keep it busy with something...with food, with toys...oh yes, and I think take youre dog out of that place where it began to bark, because there might be something that made it angry

If she's in heat, you have a choice. Take her and have her spayed, if you're not planning on becoming a breeder or put up with the noise for the several days that it can take for it to pass or take her to an intact male and get it over with.
You're responsible choice is to have her spayed.

Take a rolled up newspaper and spat her on the rear and say 'no'. The paper won't hurt her but the noise of it will surprise her and maybe stop barking after a few swats.

I agree with Dotty C, but I do it on the leg of a chair, which cause much more noise, not on her.
After you do it twice or three times, then it won't be necessary, only show her the roll of papel and will calm down.

i have heard if you put some coins into an old soda can and tape it shut and shake it at her and say no, she will not do it again.

How about you let her speak? What kind of nazi are you? It's a sad world when dogs don't even have the right to vocalize.
