I was using Nutro hard dog food. But now they are saying it may be making dogs sick. I want to feed my dog a high quility dog food, what can I give him that is 100% safe?

I feed my dog Innova EVO, which has **no** grain in it at all. It's higher in protein content, so if your dog likes to eat a lot, he may gain unwanted weight. However, for dogs prone to skin allergies, this is the best food out there, AND it doesn't have the wheat gluten that is causing all the issues in the recalls.

I've fed all my dogs this, and have been nothing but happy with the results.

None of the good quality foods were recalled, only the low quality supermarket brands.

Foods such as Pedigree, Purina, Science Diet, Alpo and other supermarket brands are low quality foods filled with corn, wheat, soy, beet pulp and by products. They have very little meat protein and it takes up to 3 times more of these grain based foods for a dog to get proper nutrition then it does of a good quality meat based (at least the first 2-3 ingredients are meat) food.
some good choices:
Canidae, Wellness, California Nayural, Solid Gold, Innova, Timberwolf, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul just to nmae a few.

While no food, even for humans, can be guaranteed 100% safe, there are foods that are higher quality with less chance of problems. Foods like Natural Balance and many of the foods at Petco are higher quality. Try typing in high quality dog food into a search engine and see what comes up. Generally if a pet food store carries grocery store brands your chances of finding higher quality foods there are not good.

Well I am comfortable feeding my dog the Wellness Diet, he has been on it for several years now (he is 11). Other excellent foods you may want to consider are:
Solid Gold
Merrick
Innova
California Natual
Good Luck.

It was only the moist pouched or canned food that was recalled...dry kibble was never recalled, nutro kibble is safe.
