I've had dogs before, one male who was fine. We recently got a new puppy after the death of our 12 yr old mutt. He's a small dog (shih tzu mix) and I'm wondering if thats the reason. He pushes his leg forward when he urinates, but doesn't lift it.

Is something wrong, or is it just his small size?

We just picked up a border collie from the SPCA and we already concerned about it. The problems are as follows:

- runny nose
- blood shot eyes
- really reserved from people
- eating but not that much

Is there anything over the counter that we could give the dog?

Im moving into either a new apartment or new house in about a month, and I've been wanting a puppy for the past 7 years but havnt been able to get one, until now. My question is,
what breed of dog would be a good inside dog and first pet?

I really LOVE pugs, but they have a lot of health issues.
And I also like puggles, but Im not sure about the health problems they have. Also, keep in mind im only 14, and I want a puppy, one that will stay small,
no bigger than a pug. Thanks.

Xoxoxoxo,
Erica

I'm thinking about buying pet insurance, it seems cheaper to pay small fee a month versus paying for each doctor visit, ER visits, shots, and surgeries.

Is it cheaper to buy pet insurance tho? What companies do you recommend?

I like my neighbors and their dogs but my house is pretty close to theirs(no fence) and they have two large inside dogs that come outside to poop quite often. In the warm weather my three kids like to be outside playing and we don't like to smell the poop which they hardly ever clean up. How do I nicely tell them they need to change this?? I am getting sick of smelling this everyday Please help me!!!

Just wondering.... Do you think dogs with cancer should be put through this?? Only reason I am asking is because out of all the cases I heard of none was saved by doing it.

My dog is turning 9 this yr and I've never ever brushed his teeth. His teeth are brown at the tip, and cracked, kind of looking like cavities.

Is it super important to brush my dog's teeth?

I have heard of some hypoallergenic dogs but i was wondering what one is the best . I need a dog that is fairly small but not minature so standard, something like that.
I've heard of a standard schnauzer that is quite hypoallergenic is that true? I would like to know your opinions.

She is two years old and we had gotten her from a rescue about a year and 2 months ago. She was fully potty trained, could go all night without needing to go out. She would go when we woke up in the morning, and was really good about waiting for us. She has always eaten twice a day, once in the morning and in the evening. She has water in front of her all day. Nothing about this routine has changed. For the last 3 weeks she wakes us up, desperatly needing to go urinate and sometimes poop, at least 3 times a night, sometimes as much as 5 times a night. I am on bed rest, pregnant with twins and in and out of the hospital, so we didn't really pay attention when it began, but now that I am home, she wakes me up (not that I mind, I just notice it more now) minimum of 3 times a night. I have written down the times to see if there was a routine, but there really isn't. It can be any random time. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong, how I can re-train her bladder. Thank you

I have a 2.5 yr old chihuahua recently dx'd with a mast cell tumor. I found it early and will have it removed by the vet so the grade is not yet determined. I found another tumor on her last night tho, even smaller. I have been informed of the odds of the different grades of MCT, but haven't read anything about multiple MCTs. I can't get her into the vet until next week, but I'm still curious if others have any idea.

His german shepard mix just had a litter of puppies. She's about 3 years old. He said he had her tubes clipped, which was a new procedure that his vet had him do. (I've never heard of it, and haven't had time to look into it, I assumed they always just took everything out) Anyway, he wants to have the 2 puppies he's keeping nuetered at 6 weeks, doesn't have any idea how much their shots are. And now he's decided he's going to 'donate' the mother to the police department. Because she's young enough to learn to be a police dog. Another lady chimed in with 'oh, she's going to be a drug dog! How awesome!' I didn't say anything, just shook my head and walked away.

I figure he's just shipping her off to the shelter and doesn't want to look like a jerk.
