First, my condolences. Losing a pet is never easy.
As to your question, I would suggest you wait until you've had enough time to grieve and say goodbye. Otherwise, you run the risk of buying a dog you hope will replace your old dog. This could be bad for you (and the new dog) if the new dog doesn't live up to your hopes or doesn't have the same personality traits as your old dog. The new dog will also be coming into an emotionally fraught household -- animals are very sensitive to this and, because he hasn't had time to bond with you yet, this may not be the best way to start your new relationship.
Good luck.

So very sorry. I have had fur-kids I still miss everyday. Consider carefully what Carl said, but I will add that I just could not stand to be pet-less. We've always had two dogs (and cats on and off). A second pet helps to lighten the blow--but they grieve the loss too. When you feel ready-start looking-please consider Animal Shelters first. Not only will you be getting a loyal friend--you'll be saving a life!

First, I'm really sorry about your dog. I really don't think, there's a specific time frame, on getting another dog. As long as you feel in your heart, like your ready for another companion to love, I don't see a reason, why you can't get another dog now.

I say: get a dog now. There is no reason to wait and the new dog will help you get over the loss of the previous one.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
My dearest friend and constant companion of four years passed on 2/28/2005. (Baron Von Bowser a.k.a. Duke) I missed him so much, but, my female (Lady Lily Dee Giant) missed him even more. She went off food and wouldn't do much of anything any more. She was losing weight and grieving his loss so much that I got her a new friend on 3/12/2005. (Prince Atticus Sparton)
Atticus isn't Duke. He's the same color & breed, but, that's the only similarity. Their personalities are as different as night and day. I missed Duke, terribly, even after I got Atticus, but the emptiness wasn't so terribly overwhelming once I got him.
Everybody grieves differently. Only you can decide when it's time for you to move on emotionally. For me, two weeks was enough grieving. I know Duke wouldn't have wanted me to stay in depression when there was another male Great Dane that needed to be loved like he was.
(BTW, both of my male Danes were rescued dogs even though they were AKC registered.)

You have to do this your own way. When our old Samoyed died at 14 (the world's oldest Samoyed, I think!), it took us a couple of years to get over it and decide we wanted another dog. Since then, we've worked with Boxer rescue and adopted dogs no one else wants. A couple of them have died and it's very hard, but it hasn't been difficult for us to take in another waif...they all need homes and love.

Carl said it all.
Choose him as best answer
I would also suggest not buying one but getting one from a shelter.
That way you can save a dogs life, and the two of you can heal together.
