Because there is no real nutritional value to Ol Roy.
Take a look at the bag. ( hold on, I am looking up the ingredients )

Look at the very first ingredient, let alone the first 4 or 5.. CORN, then soybean meal, then wheat, and corn syrup.. What about that is good? It is preserved with BHA which causes cancer in people and dogs.
There is no reason to even go on.. It's garbage dogfood.. I wouldn't feed it if my dog was hungry and all the dogfood stores were closed... I would be further ahead to take her thru drivethru at Wendy's and get her a burger... Ol Roy itself is recalled all the time because of Salmonella poisoning.. But the crap ingredients speak for themselves.

Ol Roy Dog Food

The company that makes Ol' Roy- Menu foods- Got a shipment of tainted gluten that has killed at least 16 pets, and made more than that ill. So the company is recalling the food, and there was mention in an article I read this morning about them having to set aside money to cover the vet costs for the pets that have had to be treated.

Menu foods has removed the supplier that sent them the tainted gluten, so it probably will be safe to buy Ol' Roy again eventually. But don't be too quick to do so.

It'd be easier to answer what is right with Ol' Roy dog food.
It seems like you aren't paying as much to feed your dog.
Unfortunately, that's an illusion. Because it is mostly filler, your dog has to eat more of it than it would if you were feeding it a dog food with high quality ingredients. Please do some research on it. Your dog will be healthier and you will actually save money by buying a higher quality food.

Even before Ol'Roy was on the recall list, I would never feed it to my dogs. It is nothing but fillers and chicken beaks and feet, and total crap. If you are feeding Ol'Roy, just feed your dogs dirt and you will save even more money. Same difference.

Okay, here's the ingredients of one type of Ol Roy food:
Pls note the first ingredient is corn. Corn is a common allergen and it can't be digested well by dogs. The next ingredient is "MEAT and bone meal" Whenever any product does not list the type of meat, i.e. "chicken" or "lamb" or "beef" then it could be any kind of "meat". And the bone meal could be from any kind of bone. Also, this is the second ingredient! Almost every ingredient in the food is filler. Filler seems to be the main part of the food. Soy is bad for dogs.
Chicken "by products" can include beeks, feet, feathers
and BHA is a toxic preservative.

If you real the ingredient label on the bag, the first 5 ingredients are what the food is made up of, I can probably guess without even looking at the label, at least two of the five are Corn, Corn Gluten Meal and maybe chicken by product meal or bone meal as its meat base. It is a poor quality food, there are much better foods on the market.

As the other people have said, this dog food is on the recall list and the quality is poor. The manufacturer probably was forced to reduce costs to sell to Wally World, and thus found a cheap source of wheat gluten in China to ensure that it would make a small profit. I blame the store just as much as the manufacturer on this recall.
