Animals can catch colds, but not from humans - the cold virus is species-specific (so is the flu).
There are very few diseases that can go from one species to another - e.g. toxoplasmosis; most illnesses can only be passed back and forth between members of the same species.

My dog caught a cold around the same time my son did. It's suspicious isn't it? But actually, the illness is species specific, so chances are very good that no, your dog did not catch a cold from you, but may very well have contracted a similar illness from another animal. no they cant there are some things we can catch from them and vice versa but the flu is not on of them its more likely if your dog is coughing then hes got kennel cough which is broncitis in dogs and no we cant catch it from them
