About a month & a half ago I bought a pedigree beagle for $250, and I took it home and my mom loved it but my dad said that we werent ready for another dog. (Our last one died of a blood infection/ pancreatitis, and it was heartbreaking.) So yesterday, he brings a beagle/ bassett mix home. Is that messed up or is it just me?

The beagle I bought was about 3 wks old, and could be trained. The one he bought is 2 yrs old.

He must have regretted making U take the puppy back so he got a dog. The key here being DOG. Pups take alot of work & training .When U adopt a dog U get to skip that phase. Anyway U now have a pet to love so it's a good thing.

I certainly hope you're kidding about the 3 weeks old! That's WAAYYYY too young to be weaned from it's mother. I'm sure you have your heart set on a puppy, but consider several things:

1) The puppy is too young. Take it back to it's mother immediatley (if it hasn't died already). If I'm reading your post correctly, you've already returned it. Even if by some chance it did survive, the future health and behavior problems as a result will be enormous. No reputable breeder would sell a puppy that young.
2) Pedigree papers doesn't increase their love and loyalty to you one bit.
3) A two-year old dog can be trained just as easily (if not more easily) than a puppy.
4) Why pay $250 for a dog when thousands of them are being killed daily in shelters because nobody would take them for next to nothing.

In the past month and a half, you've had a little more time to get over the loss of the original dog. Also, maybe you've demonstrated that just maybe you are mature enough to handle the responsibility.

Well if it is your dad's house, I do not think it is messed up.

Plus puppies are a HUGE hassle. The adult dog that your dad brought home will be much easier to handle. I think what your dad did (give a home to an adult dog) is a WONDERFUL thing.

P.S. whoever sold you a 3 week old puppy is retarded! When puppy is taken from mama too young it will often have behavior issues in the future :-(. Puppies should be at least 6-8 weeks before leaving mother.

Maybe dad wants himself to have a dog and does not want you to have one.All a pedigree is is that dogs family tree and all dogs have one. You must mean registered, right? Just being registered does not mean anything more than that the dog is of one breed. Certainly not indicative of a dogs worth. And I'd rather teach something to a two year old than a puppy.

yeah- you at the instant are not waiting for a canine! Sorry. Cry all you decide on, would not sound such as you dad is going to get you a canine. Its obtrusive which you could not be aloud to get a canine, and you dad is probable real for no longer getting you one. in case you should no longer take care and ideal practice your different canine then you definately nonetheless do no longer deserve one and are not waiting. i understand from journey, possessing a canine is a extensive duty and countless situations the way human beings talk or share a journey approximately possessing previous canine can instruct in the event that they are waiting for yet another one or no longer. Your no longer. disposing of the garbage does no longer mean you're solid sufficient to have your man or woman canine. or are waiting. And that previous canine you had replaced into no longer a freak, he wasn't experienced ideal. in case you had to open the canine and bypass out without your canine determining you should get him to sit down, then quite open the door, if he makes the smallest flow to bolt, close the door without postpone and say, "Ah-Ah" and make him sit down back, save doing it until ultimately you could open the door without him bolting. while you're, "so waiting to have your man or woman canine" why did no longer you do this which comprise your different canine????? bear in mind is extremely, needed. you in addition to could ought to apply a whistle to get him to return and reward him while he does. canine are not stupid, there proprietors in simple terms think of they are while they could't get them to obey, and actually that's the proprietors that are stupid(i'm no longer callnig you stupid! you could properly be slightly inexsperienced, and that's ok! you will study.)

Well maybe you opened the door, and he felt comfortable enough to get another. It's probably a good thing. Now they can play with each other (the dogs). It can be hard for some people, maybe you made it better.
