thank you for the answers so far. what kind of refrences do i need to ask the breeder about? I cant go see the pup, b/c she is in kentucky, while i am in northern california.

Are both the parents AKC registered as well as the pup? Yes, and I have
the AKC papers here for the puppies as well.
Have all of the proper genetic tests been done on the parents before
mating? No, these are our pets. The parents do not have any health problems.
What type of health guarentee does the puppy have? 72 hour. They have
been vet checked twice. Shots and wormings current also.
What kind of contract must I sign to get the puppy? I only do contracts
on my sheltie puppies. one litter every other year is my plan. This is the first litter for both parents. The puppies have
been raised with cats. We have a
heated kennel. The puppies learned to use the doggy door by 6 weeks of
age and have a concrete area on the outside where they now go to potty.
They also have a fenced in yard area that they play in during the day,
weather permitting.

these are the answeres to me questions. what all of you think? the total cost for the pup is $650 400-pup, and 250-shipping.

YOU HAVE TO BE SURE YOU HAVE THE SPACE FOR A LARGE DOG LKE THAT ,THEY NEED TO BE VERY WELL SOCIALIZED OR CAN BE VERY DOG AGRESSIVE,PARENTS SHOULD HAVE HAD ,GENETIC TESTING FOR HIPS,ELBOW AND HEART OR ANY OTHER GENETIC DISORDERS RELATED TO THE BREED .DO ALOT OF RESEARCH ABOUT THE BREED,SEE THE PARENTS, WHERE ARE THE PUPPIES RAISED,HOW MUCH HANDLING HAVE THEY HAD.
MAKE VISITS TO THE BREEDER BEFORE YOU GET YOUR PUPPY. A GOOD BREEDER WILL USUALLY LET YOU VISIT YOUR PUPPY ONCE THE PUPPIES ARE 5-6 WKS OLD.GET ALL GUARENTEES IN WRITING.GOOD LUCK

Puppies, especially from a breeder, should always come w/that stuff . If its a good deal or not may be dependent on the price, also, shipping for a dog is never cheap. And these dogs are, as you know, working dogs. They need space to run, and something to keep busy with, they get a bit neurotic if kept cooped up or restricted. So if you don't live on a ranch or farm, I wouldn't get this breed as a pet. They sell for about $300-500 around my area (Central Oregon) and are usually only advertised in the agriculture and cattle farming newspapers.

If the price is right - buy her. The animal will have a health certificate prior to flight to your local airport. A guarantee can mean anything. That means if you fly the dog back at your expense and if you do everything outlined in the contract not limited to buying a certain food, having her fixed, and having an autopsy (which you must hold all receipts to prove) - the breeder may replace the dog at his/her leisure. You will once again be responsible for shipping when a dog is made available - possibly a year down the road or so.

That sounds like the standard for registered breeders. Whats the price they expect for this puppy? If its affordable and you want the dog, get it. Yes, seeing the parents usually gives you a good idea on the pups qualities, but its not 100% necessary. I got my first doberman from a pet store (shock and horror) and because i knew what reactions i was looking for in a pup to guage her temperment, i got exactly the dog i wanted. The rest of it was nurture, not nature and my baby girl is perfect for me. Anyone can upsell the parents but if you want the pup and you know what to expect from the breed go for it.

If you can't meet the breeder and the dogs than no this is not a good deal. As a former breeder myself I would never ship a puppy anywhere. I always insisted on meeting all of my perspective clients and get to know them before I handed one of my pups over to them.

Any breeder who would ship a pup sends up red flags to me.

Don't buy this dog off the internet. There are too many responsible breeders you could visit. Go to the website below and ask for a breeder referral and you might find someone nearby

It does sound like you've done your homework. But please don't forget that big dogs need plenty of exercise space. And please be sure your fence is in good repair. Young dogs love to dig, and big dogs can go over a 6 foot privacy fence flat footed. Have your dog tattooed or chipped, and be sure you get him a good collar and ID tag for extra protection.
Obedience training is a must, and just as importantly, have your puppy spayed or neutered when he gets older. Most vets will tell you that it is time to spay a ***** before she comes into her first cycle. Dogs can be neutered any time after they mature and the testicles drop.

Sounds like a good breeder...I would email her and ask for some references though to ease you mind...any reputable breeder will give you this no problem...also a visit out there might help too. That being said...sounds like a good place that loves and takes care of their dogs! (Oh also ask for her vets info and call them up...they are the most honest references you can get!)

I would require some references from previous customers who have bought from this breeder before. Ask other breeders, a reputation among breeders may give you some insight to help you make a decision.
With all the bad media and news about puppy farms, I would be HIGHLY suspicious of ANY animal not seen in its "environment" with mother present.

they are the two good looking canines and clever. certainly relies upon on you fairly. Boxers tend to have greater potential than a husky, yet additionally they have short hair. Husky has long hair and a lot of it. So in case you do no longer decide for to handle looking after a heavy laying off dogs than a husky could no longer be the appropriate determination.
