My puppy is active and is eating just fine but recently whether she is coming in from the cold or rain I can actually feel the heat coming off of her. Her nose is hot to the touch and her tongue is very hot when she licks my hand. Should I be concerned?

dogs' normal temperature is 2-4 degrees warmer than humans'. So, your pups touch just may be warmer than your own skin, so feels hot..However, if you want to know, you can take a rectal temp to see if his is over 104 degrees, at which time you would call the vet.
You can take the temp in his arm pit, if you can do it when he has been sleeping a while..but it won't work if he has been active..In his armpit, it would be a degree cooler than rectally..so a temp of 103 or more would warrant calling a vet.

Usually, if a puppy is eating and drinking O.K is rambunctious and active he is fine. His body temperature is warmer than ours and this time of the year, his breath is much warmer than the outside temperature. If you think there is a problem - you know your dog - I don't - by all means take him to the vet.

When's the last time your dog had water? If he's had water recently then don't give him any right away. Call your vet. You want to clear the possibility of poisoning.
