I have one, who is 17 now, and she still remembers it. She won't GO OUT now when a skunk is in the NEIGHBORHOOD!

My dog learned what a skunk was about 30 seconds before he got sprayed, but he is not smart enough to have learned to leave them alone (but I wish he was).

I have gotten really good at getting the skunk smell out, but the only part that really sucks is that he is a long haired dog and you have to shave him to get the smell out. It tears up his coat too bad to use peroxide and baking soda on his long hair, and it will mat like crazy if I try to remove the odor without shaving. Getting skunked not only makes him smell, but it takes away some of his cuteness because he doesn't have his fluffy hair!

My two dogs, a boxer and a dane, discovered skunks at the same time. Somehow in all her tangles with skunks, the dane never got sprayed but the boxer wasn't nearly as clever. The baking soda mix didn't work after the first couple of times so we bought a product offline that was made specifically for skunk and it worked alright. I think it was called Skunk-Off. I wish she would have just learned. Nothing makes the smell go away as good as time.....lots and lots of time....

I remember only too well! Our black Lab landed on top of us in bed at 2 a.m. dripping with skunk oil from a direct hit! That taught my husband not to go back to bed and leave the screen door open for her.

Fortuneately for me I've never had to deal with this with the 2 dogs I have now.But long ago I lived in the country and one of our dogs got sprayed. He was crying and scratching at the door and I opened it for him not knowing what was up.He ran headlong past me and to my bedroom where he plowed his way under my bed.The smell hit me as soon as I opened the door but he was too quick.I was really mad but luckily we had a box of Odor-Mute on hand and we pried him from under the bed and gave him a bath in it.Then i had to give myself a bath and toss out everything he'd touched. Some could be saved with washing and some could not.
He did'nt learn his lesson tho.He hated the stinky things evan more and would go out of his way to show them who was boss of his 1/2 acre yard! Needless to say-We went thru a LOT of Odor-Mute until we moved away.

Newton's falling apple is prevalent to college infants for a protracted time. yet Archimedes's discovery of buoyancy stress could additionally be the single. provided that weight and buoyancy stress are canceling out one yet another. Many others weren't being credited for discovery of gravity, yet who understand what?

Unfortunately Illuv, your dog is more typical. 50/50 baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, with just a little squirt of dish soap to make it sudsy, does wonders to get the smell out : )

You'd think they'd learn... but show me one dog that's figured out you'll stop choking if you stop pulling on the leash.

I had a dog who figured out the hard way not to scratch his hiney by draggin it in fresh-lain straw. He got a straw stuck in his anus, and tried to poop it out. It was a mess...
