I think you've got the idea - go slowly and let him get used to it. Cayenne Powder is a natural wormer so, as long as it is not so hot that it makes him sick and he gets to liking it, you may get to treat him to your leftovers and keep him parasite free at the same time! Good Luck!

Yes, you introduced it too abruptly. Dogs LOVE spicy food, especially if you, as the owner are in the habit of eating spicy stuff yourself. I am from Malaysia and we as a people are in the habit of eating fiery hot curries, and chillie-laden dishes. There's a condiment we use to spice up our salads called Sambal Belacan, and this is toasted prawn paste pounded with scorching hot fresh chillies, lime and raw shallots. You can imagine how strong the result is. We tried it on our dogs and after the initial alarm at getting stung in the tongue, they actually clamoured for more! Dogs have the same tastebuds as us. What we find delicious, they find irresistable too! Nowadays, my dogs are in the habit of eating Chicken Masala, Lamb Kurma, Beef Rendang, and all kinds of local fare cooked in coconut and red hot spices. I can't guarantee that they wont have a stomach ache though, or that all this is good for them. Spice up his food by all means but do it in moderation or you'll find yourself going to the vet for diarrhoea medication! (Oh, and just to let you know as well, my dogs, with the exception of my other golden retriever who is not into sweet stuff, love coke and all kinds of fizzy drink). They all come running at the sound of the can fizz whenever one is opened).

You may find he gets gas or diarrhea if you add it to his food.
Many people use cayenne pepper powder to prevent dogs from digging in trash or gardens. You can desensitize him to it, but I would suggest that you leave his food plain.

This is not a healthy option for your dog - And I cannot imagine why you would want him to eat cayenne powder! Don't do it - you could trigger many G.I. problems which will not be pretty.

Maybe your dog will like it but if it is his first time with spicy foods then I think it might upset his stomach a bit because the spice might not agree with the gastric juices in his tummy.

It may work, I know my dog loves cayenne , we used to put it on our steaks and potatoes etc, and she loved the left overs.

they might like it. When you sprinkled it on their noses, he might have sniffed some and thats why he didnt like it. But I really dont think that dogs can taste. I know they dont like hot sauce.
