I am very sorry you lost your family member, because that is what our pets really are, aren't they? The family member we get to choose for ourselves!
Many pet owners believe they will be reunited with their pet after death. Here is a poem to help you through your grief:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry.....I hope you'll feel happy soon....I know how hard it can be.
Mourn and pray for a few days, then adopt a dog from an animal shelter and save a life. The new dog will keep you happy and preoccupied. They make you feel so great....its a shame they die....they should be immortal....
...................
My Best wishes go out to you.

R.I.P.
For you deserve it you irreplacable family member, fill your stomach with goodies and love up in doggie heaven.

my cat died at the age of 9 years old back in 2000. It was the saddest thing that has ever happened to me. To this day i still remember him and cry at times too. It did help although, gettin 2 new cats. It healed everyones pain even if that crack still remains after so long. Some things are just so hard to deal with and to this day i still have a little crack on my heart........

I understand. It is a very sad time when we loose a pet. I just lost one also. All I can tell you is to remember the pet and that time will take care of the grief. I know it sounds lame but cry if you need to and as time passes it gets easier. you still miss them but it does get easier. When you are ready get another dog, sometimes that helps.
