i went in to these ppl's house n bought a dog the other day out of a litter of pitbull pups. the thing is tho, everyone keeps telling me he doesnt look like a purebred pit. his brothers n sisters all were. the people didnt have papers for him, they couldnt afford to get them. they said they have parents papers but i did not see. he looks a lil different if he is a pit, just slightly anyways. how can i tell if my dog is really a purebred pit w/ out going back to these people's house or calling them? I only paid $50 in our bootleg projecty dump town we live in so it wouldnt necessarily be a big loss. i just wanna know. Can anyone help me??? things i should look for on his body? things that are characterisitc of this breed only???

I want a puppy that's not too big, and not too small. My dog does not get along with other dogs. How do I change that? And where can I check for a puppy?

I really do not understand something. I see people calling American Pit Bull Terriers (learn the correct name, it's not just 'pit bull'), Boxers, Chihuahuas, and more breeds vicious. Saying they should all be put down.

Here's the part I don't understand: How can you call yourselves dog lovers when you have such passionate hate for a breed? A dog is a dog is a dog.

Any dog can be aggressive. Any dog can bite. Any dog can kill.

Yes, I admit. Some breeds had been bred for this. But responsible breeds are waging war to breed it back out. And let's not forget - you're calling to punish a dog for something OUR race bred it to do.

Yet - many of you don't even know the breed you're lashing out at. Many of you have never owned nor worked with one. Ironic.

If you want the onslaught of dog bites - from any breed - to stop, call for education! Educate those around you about good breeders, training, and handling.

How can you call yourself a dog lover?

I have a 2 1/2yr old German Shephard. He seems to have real bad dry skin, especially durning the winter time. We have tried oils and benadril as well. The vet doesn't seem to be of much help anymore with this either. He is starting to have thinning of his coat in some spots, due to the scratching. Can anyone help??

I just got a new dog from the dog pound. I am not sure what she is or how old she is but I can tell she's still a puppy. I can tell that she has been abused by the way she acts. So I don't want to be to mean to her when she pees or poops in my house. I take her outside every couple hours but she won't do it out there!! How can I get her to go outside?????

I have just bought a 10 week old staffordshire bull terrier. I have never owned a dog before and made the mistake of buying something without reading about it first.
The problem is that he bites everything like fingers and as taken a big bite at my face.
I have 8 month old twins and am really scared that it may do this to them. Is this just a puppy thing ? will he grow out of it ? or is this a sign that he maybe aggressive when he is a adult.

My doxie pup has started losing her teeth. I was wondering if anyone knew about how long it will be until she’s finished losing them, and how long until her adult teeth are in and the whole thing is done? Does it differ by breed? We were at the vet with her not too long ago, but I completely forgot to ask.

Also, I know teething pups like to chew, but is there anything specific that they seem to like during this time? Do they make chews just for teething dogs? If so, what do you recommend?

I was only in 1st grade when my last dog was teething, so my mom took care of the whole thing. Now I have a dog of my own and I want to make this as comfortable for her as possible. I know it isn’t really a big deal to be teething, but if there’s something I can do to help, I’d like to do it.

Or is it really not that uncomfortable? Maybe I don't need to do anything? Any advice would be great!

I have a 2 year old male neutered chihuahua. I have him litter trained because we live in a cold area and he is very tiny, so he doesn't go outside to do his business. This is a new problem, about the past 6 months, and I don't know what tp do. We are going to be moving soon, and I don't want him to pee in the new house. Any suggestions? And how about getting the smell permenately gone?

My Australian Shepherd cut his back toe pretty bad a couple of weeks ago. I took him to the vet twice because he ripped his stitches (even with a cone). The 3rd time he did it he got all the stiches out and he "chewed" his own pad to a size that could not be restitched. I was told that his pad would grow back by a friend but I would like a second opinion. I really can't afford to take him back to the vet again for him to tell me to keep doing what I all ready have been....keeping it clean & wrapped, peroxide, triple antibac. ointment etc. It seems to be doing well and not infected. I also have him on oral antibiotics. The sides of his toe seem to be closing in around the exposed flesh...pretty gross but I want to make sure his actual pad will grow back and this toe will heal. what else can I do? Thank you.
