My dog whose is still young, 6 mo, a little dog, only 9 pounds, will eat dry food, but she doesn't really like it. She will only eat it occasionally which I think is when she is really hungry. She still prefers it to be moistened. (like it was when she was a puppy, soaked it in water to soften it up when she was being weaned). One time I mixed some canned food in with the dry food and of course she picked out the canned stuff first and then ate the rest. Should I try to mix in the canned stuff or is it nutritionally better to get her to eat the dry stuff by softening it? Could it be than her teeth just are not strong enough yet and that's why she likes it soft.

My wife is 14 weeks pregnant. We have a dog who is very smart but up to this point we don't think that she realizes that my wife is pregnant. We are guessing that at some point, perhaps when the child begins moving in the womb, that she will see that my wife is pregnant, but we're curious if other dogs notice when their human pets, *ahem*, their human is pregnant.

So, my 4 month old pug girl is an indoor puppy, but while shampooing carpets I chained her outside with her bed and food, etc. My mom walked outside to find that she had climbed onto a fouton outside and was hanging from the back of it on the chain lifeless. She immediately picked her up and unchained her and yelled for me. When put down, the pup was breathing and is acting okay now, just scared of everything. Is there any way that she could have lasting damages is she's acting fine now? She was only outside for about 2 minutes so I know she wasn't hanging there long

I have an 8 year old dog that has really bad hips and we give her an asprin a day. When she does a lot of walking or running she gets really sore. I was just wondering if she can have more than one a day. We give her the 81mg ones. Thank you.

Ok. my yorkie pup is 7 months old. She is doing okay with housetraining. (we got her at 3months old) But she still doesnt tell me when she has to go if she is outside the crate. So, she is being strictly crate trained. Now, here is the problem. My whole fam. is going on vaca. june 27 to july7. By then she will be 11 months old. She will be staying at my dad's new house then with another dog (he hasnt moved or gotten a dog yet, but will in the next month) I am soooo afraid that all of her training thus far will go down the toilet because she is being moved to a new environment. as of right now she is still going on the pad in our laundry room when no one is home for 9am to 2:30 pm 3 days a week. I want to break this cycle in time so that she will not be a problem when she stays at my dad's house. Do you think she will be trained enough by 11 months to stay with my dad??? Please training tips!!! PLEASE HELLLPPPP MEEEEE!!!!!!

I need to bring my Pekingese dog to Germany, since I am going to be stationed here for 3 years (US Army). What's the best way to do this (my vet said that he can't ride cargo cuz he's pug nosed)? Will he have to go into quarantine? What are the requirements to bring him back into the USA? Will he have to go into quarantine when he gets back to the USA?
I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has experience with this. Thank you.

Up until a year ago, he was nice to all other dogs. Now he tries to attack every dog he sees. How can I put a stop to this? He is great at home. He's like Eeyore, but when he gets outside he wants to go after them. I can't take him to the dog park anymore and it's not fair to take his sister (Jack Russell) and not him. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I have a 15 month old male boxer and we have decided to get him neutered.- I've never been around a dog who was neutered before....but my dog doesn't follow the typical stereotype of humping-He never humps, actually our female dog is always trying to hump him. What I'm wondering is if it will call him down?? He is just sooooo hyper all the time, and I've heard that neutering him should calm him down?-Is this true? FYI this is not the only reason we are neutering him, tons of health benefits! Thanks for your info!

My dog has had terrible diaherra yesterday and today. He needs to go outside every 30 minutes. I'm guessing my grandma fed him something she wasn't suppose to since he was at her house and she doesn't listen to a word I say. I'd hate to take him to the vet and pay 100 dollars just to hear he has an upset stomach. Anyone know any home remedies? I usually feed him chicken and rice, but I don't have any chicken

I have a four month old Japanese Chin (female) and am considering getting another one. It has been difficult to find another chin that is about the same size as she will be (since she will be small around 5 lbs and some chins can get to 20 lbs). I'm wanting to get another one fairly soon, so they can get use to each other and grow up together. I'm having a hard time finding another chin, but am considering getting a papillon. I'm just concerned that a papillon might be a little more fiesty than she is. She is very laid back, likes to play, but likes to cuddle and sleep as well. She isn't one of these puppies that bites and chews on everything. She is actually the perfect dog, already potty trained and everything.

Also, would a male or female be best to get since I have a little girl. I will get they spayed or neutered because I think they chin will be too small to have pups, plus I don't want to breed. I'm worried that males will hike and try to 'jump' on my little female.

I have an 11 month female chihuahua and a 9 week old male. We want to breed them eventually, but I heard that you should wait until the female is at least 24 months old. How long before my male trys to "get busy"?

I have a 3yr old beagel/basset mix and he is having skin issues out of no where. I have never had a problem before and I went to the vet but the allergy stuff they gave isn't working...I am trying to give him benadryl and that doesn't seem to be working either....he is all pink around his chest area and it is all dry. Anyone have any remedies they know of without having to spend a fortune or numerous vet visits???

I usually bath my dog in the bath but he is scratching it. Can I wash him using the hose pipe in my garden or is that cruel? Can they stand cold water if I were to bring him straight in afterwards and blow dry him? He is a chunky labrador, not a skinny little dog.
