(i cut and pasted this it seems helpful, besides it answers my question on why my dog eats grass)
(on the link below it gives alot more info from different vets)

Eating grass seems to be a normal behavior for dogs even though we tend
to think that their diet should consist of other things. There have been a
number of studies done trying to link grass eating with illness, vitamin
or mineral deficiencies, lack of roughage in the diet and other things ---
all without producing a strong correlation to any particular problem.

It is interesting that your dogs are choosing particular spots. If the
grass is different in this spot it may just taste better. I know of
several dogs in my practice who eat grass that other dogs have urinated on. If
it is possible that this is happening it might explain the preference for
these spots, since many dogs urinate in the same spot frequently.

I wish that I did have an answer for this question, as it is a frequent
one in my practice.

My dog eats grass all the time, just not the normal grass though, if your dog is tending to eat the longer grass, that has a different texture, it thinks it tastes good, but if your dog is eating the normal grass, it has an upset stomach, or it's food isnt digesting right, the grass will help ts food digest, (just livin' wild =] ) once it throws the grass up theres nothing wrong, the grass just has done its job, but the longer grass will not make your dog throw up =] Unless it eats A LOT and throws up from stuffing itself =]

don't worry =]
Hope i helped!

No. It usually just means their diet is lacking nutrients they might get from the grass. It usually makes them sick as they aren't used to it, so people think that's why they do it.

Modern dogs are descended from wolves, which got their veggies when they ate the stomach contents of herbivores like rabbits. Today's pooch doesn't have to hunt for their own food and has us to provide for them. Look for name brand dog foods that boast a balanced diet complete with veggies.

Of course, this is a generalization, and every dog has its eccentricities. Some dogs may like the taste of grass, others may eat everything so grass is no different, while others may remember it made them sick the last time they ate it so may eat it again when they aren't feeling well -- so I don't think we can definitely say your dog is ill just because they're eating grass.

No, this is normal behaviour. Dogs routinley eat grass to help them with their digestion. Then they regurgitate it back up because they can't actually digest the grass. Just don't let your dog eat too much grass or else it will get really sick. Its all normal!

It's not usually a problem. It is a myth that dogs eat grass because they have upset stomachs. Believe it or not they actually simply enjoy it. Since dogs have been on this planet, their diet has consisted of some form of plant/veggies. It is possible though, that your dogs diet does not consist of enough veggies, and he is not getting satisfaction from what you are feeding him.
Try feeding him fresh veggies, ie. green beans, carrots, etc. First do your research on the particular breed of dog you have. Certain breeds have different sensitivities. For example a diet high in vitamin C is not good for Mastiffs, therefor you would have to limit the carrots for example.
This is a pretty good site for dog nutrition: http://www.dogtrainingsite.net/dognutrition/dog_nutrition.htm

It never hurts to ask your Vet questions.

Eating grass is usually an indicator your dogs tum doesn't feel the greatest. Eating grass usually makes a dog vomit to empty the stomachs contents. There are some dogs who eat grass out of boredom also.

They all eat grass if given the chance. They also drink out of muddy puddles and eat food off the ground or yuck drink out of the toilet. They're dogs. Considering most people feed dogs food made out of chicken feathers and other equally disgusting by-products, grass sounds pretty good.

grass helps with their digestive system to make them go and works just like you eating veggies. I sometimes put a little cooked veggies finely cut up in my dogs food and that helps her not eating the grass.
