I adopted my approx. 5-month old female lab from the city pound five days ago. She bites constantly. I'm trying to be calm, have given her lots of toys and exercise, but she prefers my hands, arms, ankles, backside, face, etc. If I'd gotten her at a younger age, it would have been easier to teach her, but I know she'll figure it out eventually. I just need some advice because it's very painful, and time-out doesn't work, neither does saying "no" loudly--I'm at a loss. Please help!

How many people agree that breeding an animal is a good way to keep the population of all the many different breeds of dogs going? Or do you think private breeders are just adding to the number of dogs in rescues?
Some breeds of dog are now becoming very rare. Do you think this is because a particular breed is now not that popular, or is it because most people have their animal neutered?
I have 2 terriers, and they are both bought from private breeders. However i would never buy another puppy from a private breeder, i want to rescue from now on.

I bought a 6 month old golden retreiver last sunday and he is generally very obedient and will come called. However in the park he totally ignores me and runs at other dogs and barks. I shout his name over and over and shout "come here" but he won't come back so I end up running after him. I've tried shouting nicely and tried shouting firmly but to no avail. I have been praising him when he comes back and give him a treat when he comes to me and sits in front of me, but in an open space with other dogs he does as he pleases! Am I expecting too much of him at this age? I really need to know how to stop this. Can someone please help?!

I am having real difficulties keeping my dog quiet when he is out in the bark yard - because it is surrounded by a brick wall he cannot see out - is this why he barks? He will not listen to me when I tell him 'no'!!

He gets up very early to leave for work and I get up a couple of hours later. She is house trained and only does it to be naughty. Its no problem on the weekend when he gets up at the same time as me. He's stopped feeding her in the morning so I can do it when I get up, but that hasn't helped. Its not always either, just 80% of the time. Any ideas greatly appreciated. She's a terrier (Jack Russel X Scottie dog) if that makes any difference.

My boyriend has just woken me up with some very bad news. I have got some expensive glasses which I've only had for two weeks, I got pricey ones because I thought that if I have to wear them all the time then I want to look good in them.
Well anyway I put them on top of the microwave last night out of reach of the dogs (got two English Bull Terriers) and the cat must have knocked them off because my dogs have eaten them, there all chewed to pieces and I'm really gutted right now not to mention totaly blind! I paid £200 all together for them and now I'm going to have to replace them and I have no money right now.
Just tought I'd vent my frustration!

I want a breed of dog that will fit my lifestyle! I am not very active maybe a walk for 20-30 mins a day! I have a 2 year old daughter and want another one! So good with young children is a must! Also i have 2 small dogs! 14 lbs and 8 lbs(They are both mutts)! I live in a 3 bedroom house on a 10 acre farm, 1 acre fenced in back yard! I want a dog that will love EVERYONE! I DO NOT want a dog that is protective! I don't need a guard dog just a loving companion! So ummmm, oh i love taking my dogs to the dog park! So a very loving dog towards all people children and animals! Oh size doesn't really matter but i'd prefer a small or medium sized dog! I have my eye on two particular breeds, but I don't know if their right for me! I like the Shiba Inu and the King Charles Spaniel! Oh, the basset hound is cute too, but how large do they grow(weight wise)?

I have a pure bred Saint Bernard. She is always able to find the butter. I have covered it and hid it behind stuff, she always gets it. Even if there is other food she could possibly get to she will nab the butter!
Any ideas why?

Lately he's been very depressed and just laying on my bed. He won't eat anything. His eyes are red and watery. He doesn't even keep them open. But whenever he opens them, he just gives me that look like he wants to tell me that its his time to go.

I don't know.

Am I imagining things or is it really his time?
