hi you wont get a puppy for free not even a mongrel, even if you do rescue you one they charge about 100 adoption fee

do a seach for dog rescues it will come up with a few

also do a search for free dogs it will come up with some too mostly classifieds the only dog you would get free is an older dog

you could always put a wanted add up

heres a few sites to put a wanted add up.good luck

First, you should decide if you only want a puppy or if you would settle for an older dog. A lot of people get puppies and end up giving it up when it 'outlives' its cuteness or gets older and more work/destructive.

Second, if you arn't picky about the breed you have several more options.

First place to always look is at the local animal shelter or pound. They tend to charge the cost of vaccines and shots the dog required.

Next you can try searching for Dog Rescues. If you are searching for a particular breed you can narrow down to *breed* Rescue.

That is a good first step. And would give you an idea of what to look for. Afraid I live in North America so I can't say for sure how rescues work over there.

Your question worries me. Even if you don't pay for a dog initially, dogs are expensive. You have the small stuff. Collar, leash, license, food and water bowls, bed, crate, toys, tooth brush and paste. Then you get into what to feed the dog. A low cost poor quality food that will have you asking questions like,"why does my dogs breath smell so bad?" "why does my dog have a bad body odor?" "what can i give my dog to give it a shiny coat?" "why does my dog scratch all the time?" That's what cheap food can do for your dog. Now a premium quality food has the nutrients a dog needs without the corn and wheat fillers that cause problems and they don't have by products (want to feed your dog cancerous tissue?) Premium quality foods come at a premium price but they are worth it. Okay so far the dog hasn't cost much, what $100.00 maybe $200.00? But we haven't been to the vet yet. Shots, wormer, never use otc's, they can kill your dog. Fleas? Still needs a vet, again otc's are harmful, even fatal. Spay/neuter, unless you are goining to add to the millions of homeless dogs that die every year. Then there's the anual vet visits for shots and check up, including dental. Yes those teeth will need cleaned to stay healthy. Bad teeth cause other health problems which will be more vet bills. The anual vet visits are when the dog is yopung and healthy. As it gets older it will need semi-anual visits. Then there's the dogs that develope diseases and need ongoing care and meds. Oh, did I mention when the dog gets ill and/or injured (and it will) it will need a vet then? Free dog? Cheap dog? There is no such thing.

Search on yell.com and see where your local rescue center is. They do ask for a donation but its very reasonable, as they neuter your dog and everything.

Its much more rewarding to get a rescue dog because you are saving them from a horrible or unloved life. If you get a slighly older dog, a years or so, it will also be house trained and hopefully past most of the destructive behaviour.

Good luck and have fun :)

A local shelter or humane society will have pups and dogs of various ages. Most of the shelters, but mainly the humane societies spay/neuter before adopting out a pup/dog. They usually only charge a minimal adoption fee.

have you tried your local RSPCA? they may not have puppies but i'm sure you could give any one of the dogs, they do have, a good home! or try your local supermarket notice board, you may find someone giving puppies away "free to a good home"! you could also look in free ads (the yellow one, i think it's called Ad Trader now though) there's loads in there! good luck!

Forgot newspaper ads-they tend to be puppy mills or backyard breeders.

Go to the RSPCA or some other rescue centre.

I don't know about Chester, but there should be a rescue place somewhere near you.

Try this - if there's not one near you, give them a call and maybe they can point you in the right direction.
