Puppies are inherently clumsy at this point, all legs and feet. I suggest you pick up your puppy and cradle him on his back for a couple. Then do "blink reflex" on each eye.

Snap your hand downward toward his eye, NOT close enough to hit make contact, but about an inch or so away. Watch the puppies reaction. If he doesn't blink, you may have some problems. If he blinks, then its probably just youthful excitement. (Try this on both sides.)

If the problem persists, and the dog continues running into things, there could be a more serious neurological problem. Either way, if the problem persists, I suggest a visit to the local vet. Enjoy.

Did someone sale or give you a puppy at 5 weeks old. That is way to young . That puppy should have stayed with its mommy for another three weeks. At five weeks that puppy is doing what a puppy does. And no you don't flash a bright light at the puppy..Where you guys get your answers sometimes. Since you already have a puppy at that age you need to keep it safe and warm for another three weeks. Treat it as a newborn. Then you can start house training. Your puppy should bet eating puppy food by now. Make sure it is soft . Who would give you a puppy at five weeks..this is unreal to me?????

In most states it is illegal to sell a pup under 6 week ideally thy should stay with mom 8 to 10 weeks, I would take the pup to a vet, chances are it could be blind, though I hope not. Some states have puppy lemon laws, so best to have the pup looked over before you get too attached

I rescued a 5 week old puppy, and yes, that is way too young to leave Mommy. I treated him like a baby. He would suck his stuffed lamb, and still sucks blankets. He's going to be 3 this year, and he's still my baby.

Flash a bright light into it's eyes, and see how it's reacts. Most are clumsy at this age
