I get food specially for bones and joints for my rotties.
My friend order some supplements from me that are for humans but work wonderfully for dogs...he has a 13yr old lab who could hardly walk some days....since he has been giving him these pills...(only one a day) he can run around with the best of them.
Replenex from Melaleuca....www.melaleuca.com
It was not tested for animal though. Just a though. My dogs also take them.
You could talk to your vet though to get something specially designed for dogs. It should have glucosamine in it and NOT the sulfate base ...

Maybe feeding him oily fish as part of his diet will help him. Otherwise maybe fish oil supplements. I suppose that is what a person would do, so assume it would be the same for a dog. But maybe check with a vet and see what they say.

There was a big write up on relieving pain do to hip dysplasia, and I thought I saved it on my favorites, but I can't find it......
It was regarding vitamin C. Dogs with hip problems showed significant relief after being on a vitamin C regimen.
If I find it, I will add it in.

not to worry, there are now many companies making products for dogs and owners in your situation. i know i uset to have an old dog who had terrible arhritis so i gave him an oil supplement which i purchased in Sainbury's. you just added a tablespoon to his feed and within a few days i began to see the benifits as he ws running around more freely!
I think it was made by the johnson company....go to your local sainburys and you will find it there.
good luck!

You could try giving your dog Glucosamine tablets. You can get them from your vets or from any health food shop. We give our retreiver one tablets a day, sprinkled on his food and mixed in. Make sure you check with your vet before you do though.
