I love Australian Shepherds. I volunteer in rescue, and have interacted with a large number of them. They are sweet and tolerant of others, but truly a loyal, one-person dog. They'll do anything to please their owner, and are very protective. They are also beautiful, intelligent, easily trained, and good with kids. Now if only I could get them to stop shedding!

In general i like larger dogs coz im lazy and dont like to have to bend down to pat it. Breed specific i love dobermans. They are one of the best looking dogs in my opinion, long limbed, deep chest, beautiful stance, not too bulky and not too skinny. And they are one of the most intelligent breed i have ever come across, but they can be stubborn, i like a dog that knows its own mind. Even tho they look fierce, unless its a trained shutzhund, they are the best with kids, which is important to me with my 2 small children. Very little grooming. Happy to be a couch potato when you are but always up for a run. The puppies are absolutely the most gorgeous around. They are a predictable breed in some respects but they definately have their own personality each. Not all dobes are automatically deadly guard dogs, one of mine was asleep on the front porch, legs up in the air and snoring, while someone broke in thru the back door. Thankfully the other was a bit more alert inside the house. One of my girls is a rescued dog that i fostered, she came from a situation where her physical and mental health were so neglected(breeder on a puppy mill) she was a wreck that snapped at anything that moved and we couldnt get her out of her cage at the vets without sedating her first. Not viscious, just scared sh*tless in the new situation. Once she realised i only meant good things for her she became the nicest, sweetest, most eager to please dog i have ever had in my house(and that is alot of dogs). Both my girls are more patient with my kids than i am. I am definately a convert tho, because i used to be a great dane girl thru and thru, but now i am a dobie lover.

German shepherds! They're intelligent and very family oriented. Mine was the most maternal dog I've ever seen, mothered orphaned kittens quite a few times (I handraised many orphaned kittens from the shelter), a baby squirrel that fell out of a tree (until we put it back of course), a baby rabbit that got spooked by a storm as it was following its mom across our back yard and froze, she very gently picked it up brought it to the porch and started grooming it, (until we put it back in the yard and momma retrieved it), she helped me raise a baby skunk that was orphaned. She was so great with kids, use to stay by the youngest child at our house, didn't matter who the child belonged to, and would guard that child all day. She got a couple of rattlesnake bites while protecting kids. I watch a lot of Animal Planet "Bringing up Baby" shows, and I've noticed that a lot of animal rehabilitators have german shepherds around to help raise the baby critters, because they're good at it, it seems to be a natural instinct with the breed, both male and female.
So basically, I like shepherds because they're both intelligent and great moms and dads. The fact that they're beautiful creatures doesn't hurt either.

Great Dane is the choice for me. They are loving, smart, very mellow, great companions if you have the room and the money to keep them since everything is more expensive with a bigger dog. My pup is only 6 weeks old and is the best dog out of 20 or so I have had in my lifetime so far. I LOVE MY TANK.

I love springer spaniels! (Have two) They are fun, affectionate, love kids, even tempered and are working dogs.
We hunt pheasants, quail and rabbits - It is incredible to be able to share a sport with them. They were put on this earth to hunt upland game - I get to watch and participate with them! They can "communicate" thru body language and eye contact.
