I need to know this because my neighbor has a puppy that is just under a year old. he is a male! My female is in heat and i dont want her to get pregnant! He got off his chain and through my fence, They did get together and got stuck i guess you call it! i dont want puppies and do intend to get her fixed as soon as she is out of heat. Any ideas on the chances she got pregnant?

he is definatly fertile at that age and she is probally preg now , but sometimes it can be false pregnancy etc.
might want to take her in right away for a spay.

A male dog can often get another dog pregnant at much younger than that. If they "got together and got stuck" your dog is probably already pregnant. Neutering and spaying should occur by 6 months.
I suggest that you get your dog spayed as soon as possible and encourage your neighbors (A) to get their dog neutered, and (B) never keep a dog on a chain. This is associated with a lot of undesirable behavior including the development of aggression and even the killing of people who approach them while they are on chains. This is even more true with unneutered dogs.

There is a time window while she is in heat. Most dogs are in heat for 3 weeks, the first one light, the second week heavier, and the third week light again. I believe the second week is when they can get pregnant, because my sister was going to breed her dog and realized this too late. Good luck though!

I actually TRIED to have my dog knock up another dog. He was 9 months at the time and although they did the deed, his sperm was not mature enough at nine months to impregnate her.

OK THE MALE DOG CAN BE A YEAR AND CAN GET THE FEMALE PREGNANT BUT YOU SHOULD WAIT UNTIL THE FEMALE HAS BEEN IN HEAT TWO TIME ALREADY

yes she might of gotten pregrant. they say you can wait until she turns at least 2 yrs old. getting her fixed is a good ideal.
