I know there are severval kinds, but to find out what they are would be helpful for me. I looked on the web under everything I could think of and no where did I find all the different kinds besides the deerhead, mexican, applehead, teacup, long haired, smooth coat. I have 2 chihuhuas, one is a deerhead (which I recently learned there was a kind by that name) and I have I believe to be an applehead.

There are only 4 types of Chihuahua - apple head, deer head, smooth coat and long haired. There is absolutely NO SUCH THING as a teacup Chihuahua, tiny Chihuahua, mini/miniature Chihuahua or small Chihuahua. They come in one size and one size only.
I have never heard of a "MEXICAN CHIHUAHUA". They were originated in Mexico and are known as the TACO BELL dog but not Mexican Chihuahua.
***DO NOT FALL FOR SCAMS WHERE BACKYARD BREEDERS, PUPPY MILLS, PET SHOPS OR BROKERS ARE CLAIMING TO SELL MINI/TINY/TEACUP CHIHUAHUA PUPPIES!! THEY ARE UN-HEALTHY RUNTS AND ARE USUALLY NOT EVEN PUREBRED!!***

Like "honeychild" said, the Chihuahua breed is only one. There are variations of it, as in the deerhead (also called mexican, taco bell etc.) which has perky ears located on the side of the head, longer muzzle; and the applehead one, which has perky ears right on top of a well rounded head, and very short muzzle. It comes with smooth or long coat.

There is only one chihuahua, two TYPES which are long and smooth coat. Other variations are the same 'type' of chihuahua, just like variations in any breed. Some are smaller/bigger than others, some have longer noses, a rounder head etc. If you gather a whole heap of these chihuahuas with say, a longer nose, and you breed from them, then you will have a lot of chihuahuas with long noses, but they are still just chihuahuas with long noses, not 'long nose chihuahuas' for example. A chihuahua with a short nose, may give birth to one with a long nose, it isnt a different type, just an abnormality. None of these 'types' are listed anywhere in the breed standard, they are just diversions from it.
candas- 4 pounds is a very average size for a chihuahua. The breed standard states 2 to 6 pounds. Anywhere within that range is a standard weight.

Hello, I have not had much experience with Chihuahuas, but as far as I know, the rounded apple head is a distinctive hallmark (trade mark) of the breed. So, yes, it may be possible that your dog is a chihuahua cross. You can get precise DNA tests at your veterinarian. Usually, when you meet a breeder, he or she should allow you to see the mother. Sometimes the sire won't be there, but the dam, no, I am not swearing, should ALWAYS be there. An absence of the mother is a red flag, so this may have been a puppy mill or bad breeder who you got this dog from. You may want to notify you local animal rescue group or shelter about this person.
