I probably know almost all of them but hardly know any new (newly recognized by the AKC) breeds. There are over 150 purebred breeds around. I probably know a lot more than I think I do but can't be bothered writing them all down (on paper) - I have a very short attention span so find writing long lists boring! My favorite is definitely Dalmatian (I am very biased, former owner and getting another Dal puppy in 4 months!!) but am a fan of nearly all types of dogs (mostly large and medium breeds, not a massive fan of small breeds). Just a few, in alphabetical order, are:
Australian Shepherd
Afghan Hound
Bichon Frise
Basset Hound
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Clumber Spaniel
Dachshund
Dalmatian
English Setter
English Springer Spaniel
French Bulldog
Fox Terrier
Giant Schnauzer
Golden Retriever
Havanese
Hairless Khala
Irish Setter
Italian Greyhound
Japanese Spitz
Jack Russell Terrier
Keeshond
Koolie
Labrador Retriever
Lhasa Apso
Maltese
Maremma Sheepdog
Neapolitan Mastiff
Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever
Otterhound
Olde Victorian Bulldogge
Pug
Portugese Water Dog
Queensland Heeler

Wow, I can look at almost any breed and give you it's breed name. I was a nerd during my teenage years, and I threw myself into get a dog. I had to show my mom and dad I knew what I wanted and knew how to take care of it. I researched dog breeds for 6 months prior to getting a dog, and haven't stopped since I was 13. I'm 21 now. In high school, my junior year research paper was over the human and canine connection, had a lot to do with how dogs evolved and such. I have had several different breeds or been around from the time I was 1 year old. My favorite so far has been the labrador retriever. It's no wonder to me why they are so popular. I got mine from an animal shelter, and he is amazing. He's a full blood and a puppy. I would say that my second favorite was a beagle though.
