there is a such huge varience in size, that it would be impossible to tell which type the puppy is.

Height: 18-22 inches (46-56 cm)
Weight: 22 -110 pounds (10-50 kg)
Please Note: The APBT ranges in size from 22 pounds to 110 pounds (rare), with the most common being between 35 - 55 pounds (16-25 kg.), in fact the original APBT's were between 20 - 40 pounds (9-18 kg.) and were bred small for their main purpose, fighting, These dogs are varying from small to extra large. A very common misconception is that APBT's are muscle bound (viscous) hulks that weigh in around 85 pounds (39 kg.) and this is generally not the majority, Most of the APBT's that Are that large have been crossed with another breeds.

I own Staffordshire Bull Terriers and most people think they are mini pitbulls. They stand 14"-16" high at the shoulder and weigh less than 38 pounds for males and 34 for females.
"Pitbulls" or American Pit Bull Terriers come in a variety of sizes and conformation, thus they are not recognized by the AKC.
American Staffordshire Terriers, also known as AmStaffs are an AKC recognized breed and they closely resemble some pitbulls.
A good way to gage the puppies potential size is to view the parents.
Best of wishes.

It depends. A 'pit bull' is not even a breed. Amstaffs, Staffies, and APBT's all fall into the category of 'pit bull'. Staffordshire Bull Terriers (Staffies) usualy range from about 24-38 lbs. American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) should be about 30-60 lbs, but often times you see these huge 100+ lb hippo dogs that people pass off as APBT. The size of the dog depends on the size of it's parents and what you feed it.

That seems like an odd present for a chick.
Pit bull's aren't very big. My male lab/rotty mix is larger then a male pit bull.
They're medium sized, males generally weigh 40-70 lbs. and females generally weigh 35-65 lbs.

It depends on the breed. A real pit bull, the American Pit Bull Terrier, are medium sized dogs. They should be tall, lanky, proportioned, athletic and under 65lbs. (on average should be around 45-50lbs.). Of course, there are a lot of people breeding monster dogs calling the APBTs but they are not full-blooded, usually mixed with mastiff, presa canario or cane corso.

Pit Bulls tend to vary in size more than other breeds. It depends on who is breeding them, and for what purpose. But they are usually medium to large sized dogs. I have a pit bull who is pretty average sized. She is full grown and 50 pounds. The best way to estimate his full grown weight is to see how much the parents weigh.

well obviously any puppy is going to start out small but yes pitbulls are big they can get as big as a lab or retriever or even a rotweiler. I would think twice before doing it if you are concerned about the size.

They can be fairly big or on the short stocky side. They do make very good pets if they are treated well.

They are not real tall, but the one I had weighed about 70 lbs, and it was a female. I bet the males weigh more. They are great dogs. I had mine for 10 years.
