It's dumb a*s sh*t like this that keeps the controversy over pits going. To get your moronic "question" out of the way. no, no, and no. I think those were the requirements to post the question. I have a pit and he is not chained by the door to watch for cops or crackheads, he's asleep on the couch and he's snoring. He doesn't want to eat my kids, but he will give them "horsey" rides. He has never tried to tear my face off or rip my throat out, but he has almost smothered me by trying to sit in my lap. He doesn't try to mutilate or attack any dog he sees, but besides my other dog, his best doggy friend is the chihuahua next door. He won't tear into your helpless body if you walk in the door, but he will try to climb in your lap and lick the inside of your nose. I have never tried to get him to fight another dog--I have enough trouble trying to get him to not be afraid of my kids' toys. Yes, there are mean pits out there, but it's not just because they're pits--it's because they have ignorant owners that are too stupid to realize the potential for love, loyalty and companionship in their dog. It's no different than saying an entire race is corrupt because you know of a few bad examples. Why don't you do some research on your own and then form an opinion based on FACTS not sterotypes, other peoples opinions, and hyped up media. Then the next time you open your mouth (or type on your keyboard) you won't make a fool out of yourself again.

No, thats a stereotype. I own a pit and I am NOT on drugs or welfare. I dont have a mullet either. My dog is a family member. I don't use her to guard drugs, I don't breed her to make money (or at all), and I don't have her to show her off so I can feel tough. Not all pit bull owners are scum.

For starters, there is no such breed as a "Pit Bull" dog. The breed you object to is the Staffordshire Terrier. Some lowlife humans who raise and train Stafforshires to fight others of their breed use the term "pit bull" because the dog fight is usually in a ring known as a "pit" and the fight is on when one of the dogs charges the other - the way a bull charges the bull fighter. That's where the term pit bull comes from. Anyone who refers to their dog as a pit bull has a dog which was trained for hostility and is generally kept hungry.

The Staffordshire, on the other hand, is a terrier and as such is an excellent family pet - very good with children and a loyal family companion.

Having clarified that, people who own Staffordshire Terriers tend to be well-adjusted, law-abiding people who love their dog.

Just a comment on someone else's post:

"For starters, there is no such breed as a "Pit Bull" dog"... what? What are you talking about crazy lady? The American Pit Bull Terrier? No? Never heard of it? It's a close relative of the Staffie, but it is indeed a legitimate breed. Many people confuse the 2 and just refer to them all as pits though...

Is your name "bob" or "Boob"? Your question indicates you are a boob.

North is right, by the way. There is no such breed as a pit bull. The breed is a Staffordshire Terrier and they are loyal family dogs and are great with children. These dogs are most comfortable on their backs while one of their trained people rubs it's tummy.

Wow, grow up dude. I have had pit bulls/pit bull mixes since I was in my late teens. I also am a stock broker that owns my own rather nice home. And finally, no mullett here or welfare. Maybe you should get a job and stop watching so much Springer during the day.

No, but I do not think you should own any dogs because clearly you do not have the faculties it takes to research.

Perhaps, but having a big, bad dog is never going to make up for that little thing between your legs. Best to come to terms with reality and try to live with it.
