I've been around many dogs and they all liked to lick of "kiss" their humans to some degree but I've found my dachshund does it incessantly. She even wakes me up at night by licking my feet! Why does she do this? Is she missing some vital mineral or some other dietary factor that I could put in her food to make her stop doing this? I'm going crazy!!!!

my mutt does that. he is a small dog. about 25 lbs. he has licking OCD. He even licks up at his own nose, like he's wiping his mouth. and its put a raw spot on there. I took him to the vet, and he basically said that has OCD. There is really nothing you can do about it. But mostly they do this because they are bored or have a lot of anxiety.

My Doxie did the same thing...must be the breed...

I would add just a little salt to her food for a few weeks and see if that helps.

If yours was anything like mine, You have the cleanest feet in town *vbg*

My pomeranian does that, too. I think small breeds are just more affectionate or something. If you find anything out about the mineral thing, could you tell me? It kinda drives me crazy, too. XD
