Is there any way to get a rooster to stop crowing? I live in miami and the neighbors hate the crowing in the morning-I personally don't give a damn-and i've been living in the city all my life. For ex. If I keep them indoors in the morning will they stop? I love them and i dont want to give them up (I have 3-no hens)

My dad's bird is 22 years old and looks healthy as can be. We have had two other cockatiel's that were babies when purchased and one lived to be 8 the other to be 7. Is 22 uncommon for such a bird?

I understand that mourning doves rarely leave their nest unattended- with the male and female taking turns sitting on the eggs. I've noticed that neither is sitting in the nest at night. The nest is in a small palm tree right off my apt balcony and the apt building has a huge and very bright security spotlight on all night, shining directly onto the nest.
Could this be the problem?

I took on my grandmothers canary when she died in september and he has been colour fed so he is bright red. I know that to keep the colour I should colour feed him so I've been feeding him Color Treat from Hagen. This years feathers are starting to come through but they're white, there's no colour in them at all. He loves his colour feed, he actually doesn't eat his regular seed and goes mad when I bring his colour feed bowl to him so I know it's not because he isn't eating the colour supplement. Why has he lost his colour?

I have a pair of cockatiels. They have mated first on Sunday 18/03/07. The female and the male go i the nestbox ALOT and now they mate about 2 times a day. Also, the female goes in the nestbox and makes piping noises.

I have a few bird houses to hang outside. How far away should I have bird feeders and baths from the houses? Should I put any straw, sticks, or anything in the empty houses to start them off?

When I am holding my parakeet and my husband comes to sit by me, the bird fluffs up his feathers and sort of shakes his wings. I just adopted my parakeet last weekend, but feel he is already attached to me. Also, he opens and closes his beak without making any noises, I am not sure what that means either. I would appreciate any feedback you can give me! Thank you!!

I need a good name

Hello Everyone,

My family has many animals around the house. When we leave our border collie likes to bark which in turn our Blue Front Amazon has started mimicing the dog to where the Bird sounds just like the dog. This bird barks early in the morning and will not shut up! I've ofter put him back in his cage to settle him down and it will calm him down but there has to be another way to break him of doing this. Anyone know of this happening with these Blue Front Amazons and how to break this?

Thanks and I welcome all suggestions
