What is the best way to go about milking a bird? Such as a robin or a cardinal? I heard bird milk goes well with brownies. I'm trying to see for myself. Advice would be helpful. (Also, lets just assume I already have the bird and I dont need help catching it)

I have two parakeets that I got from a friend that raised them as young birds.. She gave me a Female and a male.. So I was just wondering if it's possible for them to have Babies, or is it different with birds that they don't breed As easily?

Before you start screaming "Take him to the vet!!" Let me explain that I have an appointment with a vet that specializes in birds and exotics. In fact that is ALL she works with. He goes in at 11:30 tomorrow morning. He has had no changes in his life. I fill his dish and he throws all of his pellets out of his dish. I've tried hand feeding him, he picks up the pellet and throws it. Tried fresh fruits & veggies, he throws them too. I've even tried his favorite treats and he throws them. His crop is empty, and I havent seen him drink any water either. This has been going on since Friday or Saturday. Any suggestions on things I can try with him?

I have a Mynah bird as a pet, they are part of the starling family, not a parrot! She has a few bulgy lumps over her beak and above one eye. They dont seem to bother her too much, she scratches it a little, but doesnt seem stressed or itchy. I bathed it in saline so now it looks clean, but it doesnt seem to get any better, or worse! Ive kept and bred birds(from lovebirds to ducks) for years, but Ive never had a Mynah bird, and Ive never seen this particular thing before. I thought it might be a form of scaly face, but I thought it only affected parrots. I dont want to just start slapping things on it(iodine or parrafin) in case its the wrong thing. It looks a lot like cold sores, but I didnt think birds could catch it.
Any information would be much appreciated.

I bought the parrot when she was about 4 and ive had her 4 years, she laid her first egg the other day, then laid another a few days later, and of course she acts a little different, more like a mom (LOL) should I let her sit on the eggs or get them out soon as possible and how long and often can i expect this to happen, she lives alone.

My mom keeps parakeets and for years none of them have mated. Just recently when she was cleaning the cage she discovered an egg in the corner. She put it in the mating box she'd had in there for a while and the bird has gone in and out. She wonders how to know if the little egg is alive or not. And if it is, and it seems like the bird doesn't want anything to do with it, how can she help it survive? Thanks.

My friend's cockatiel laid an egg but has not been with the male to her knowledge. the cockatiel was ignoring the egg for a few days now, so when she cleaned the cage, she removed the egg. the cockatiel went berzerk, so she put the egg back in the bottom of the cage where she had found it. now the bird is pushing the egg around in the bottom of the cage constantly. why?

Sitting at home doing whatever and all of a sudden, 'BAM!' right against the window and you look out and find a dead robin that slammed into the window? Guess Windex really works, lol.

I am kinda partial to the parrot family! The McCaw and the African Grey seem like fun pets! But I want to be sure I am not getting myself into more than I can handle! I've never owned a bird before but have family and friends that do! What would be a good first time parrot!? It doesn't have to be a parrot! But I'd like a bird I can handle! Hold, carry around, (talking birds would be great too) not just a bird that lives 100% in the cage! Also I don't mind a sqwaky bird but I DO NOT want a screamer! I also have a 2 year old daughter and 2 small dogs under 15 lbs! What kind and where would I find a bird vet? Also besides the bird itself and a cage what do I need to buy to make sure my new baby is healthy and happy! Thanks in advance!

I currently have a cage with 7 adult parakeets (large aviary) and I would love to start keeping finches too. I used to keep 8 adult parakeets together but the others started picking on one of the females to the point of injury - so I removed her to a small separate cage. Would it be safe to keep this sweet girl with maybe 6 finches (some type of colorful finch) in a large aviary (by pinnacle - I belive it is 36" wide by 36" long by 60" tall)?
