I was outside a little while ago feeding my dog and I found a baby bird on the ground. It has just hatched and has it's eyes closed but it is breathing. What can I do for the bird? We have it in a box. I hate to see it die if we leave it outside will the mama bird come and get it? What can we give me bird to eat? How can we help it?

What does it mean when my parakeet walks back and forth quickly on his perch? He does this when I play piano for it and when I sing and sometimes talk to him.
How long does it take for one parakeet to use one cuttlebone?
What does it mean when my parakeet opens his beak really wide and moves his tongue in and out?
Is it normal for parakeets to puff up when it relaxes and gets ready for bed?

I am considering purchasing a Meyer's Parrot (hatched in February) and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. I know quite a bit about the basic husbandry, but I was just hoping for some more specifics, personal experience, opinions of them, etc... I currently own a cockatiel and an Amazon, so I have experience with birds. Serious answers only please. Thank you!

What is it with humans and our pets. We are the only species on the planet who has the desire to have a pet, or cares about the development, safety and well begin on other animals/species. You wouldn't find a chimpanzee for example trying desperately to potty train the local kitty, or a gorilla caring very much if the local pack of dogs gets fed today, so what exactly is it with us humans and out pets.

they did at first get along so we got rid of the other cage and put them together but now at night they always fight and it gets really annoying.

My sister has pet parakeet, which is the most annoying thing in the world. It squeeks and squaks and screams and chirps all day starting from like 8am (it wakes me up) until it gets dark out. Is there any way to punish a bird to make it stop screaming at random times? It just does what it pleases whenever it pleases, there has to be another way?

I guess it's because the young birds are sick or something.

This tiny little bird literally knocked on my door this morning. It was really cold outside and the poor thing was freezing. I fed it bread, warm milk and now I put it in a birdcage. But, How can I know if it is a he or a she?
I used to have budgies and fed them canary grass. Do I give canary grass to the Canary too? Do they eat anything else?

Further information on Canaries, please, send it to me.

A group of starlings have made noises which imitate a cat I have. I have a hunch that the cat killed the starling and they are mimiking the cat to let me know the starling has died. Your thoughts?

Why do cockatiels love human feet so much? Every time I don't have a shoe on, my boy walks up to my foot & starts singing & flirting with my toes. He's always calling it a "pretty bird" , sings, and bows to it. Then after a few minutes, he decides to get freaky with it. But why feet? Why not like your finger or ear or something?

He is only 7 weeks old he was hand reared, he's defenatly male, very friendly. I bought him at the pet shop only yesterday.
Altho I am quite pleased with him I have a concern.
He is in a large cage with wheels so then we can have him inside at night, he has heaps of toys, constant water and lots of food with cuttlefish and an apple stuck to the side of the cage.
He dose not bite and is very confident around people He is abit shakey but I understand that as he is in a diffrent enviroment with strangers and animals he has neva seen b4, but my concern is,
we have the cage durning the day outside so he can see and hear the other birds, tho he seems happy I sometimes wonder that with him seeing and hearing the other birds would that make him an less tame that what he already is?
I hope I haven't raved on, but I do love him and it would upset me if I did all I could for him to then end up with him untamed.
I handle him often.
Thanks....
