We just got a parrotlet. We love him to death and he is very tame. I had his wings clipped for safety reasons. He is not moving in his cage at all. If I sit him on a perch, he stays there. If I put him in the bottom of the cage......he stays there. Will he eventually learn to hop from spot to spot? I am worried. He isn't even moving to his food and water. How long will it take him to learn this? He is 6 and a half weeks old. I have owned birds, but never any that had clipped wings. Serious answers only please:) Thanks!

I was walking him through the park when he attack this bird(had adult and baby feathers) it looked like a small-medium sized robin. It wouldn't move, so i left it for 5 mins, because i figured it might just be frightened. when i came back, it was gone with a pile of feathers and a little blood. it probably ran or flew away. my question is if this were to ever happen again, what would i do with the bird? how do you move it? what's some basic bird first aid?

My four years old budgie appears bored all the time since his cage-mate died. He is not as active and as curious as before. He has lots of toys but he doesnt spend any time playing with them anymore in the recent months. In comparison to his cage-mate, who died, he is very timid. Before he used to come out of the cage and fly around the room, but now he is often afraid of leaving the cage. Other than getting another bird, what can I do to bring some fun into his life? Is there some kind of game or activity, or some sort of inventive toy that parakeets tend to love?
Thanks.

I've had IRNs before. I have had three lutinos/yellow IRNs (two of them now dead from fighting ='/) and this little green bugger.

He?/She?/It? has been with us for about two years now and she came to us pretty much grown. I'm not sure how old it is, but by now it should be easy to tell what gender my bird is. Sometimes, it acks like a female and other times it acts male.
Sorry for the picture. I took it with my cell phone

Ok so yeah..I have a male and female parakeet. The've been bonded since they were taken away from their parents. A few days ago..about 2 I beleive they were out of the cage and had sex. I don't know if I should expect eggs or not..but the female has been eating alot more the ussual. Is that a sign thatshe might lay eggs soon? Or is she just abnormally hungry.

I'd like to leave something different once in a while as a treat to my feathered friends outside. Other than the common birdseed I put in the feeders, what do you think they would like? Anything in particular for particular birds? If so, what for who? Any people food that they would like that would be good for them?
