how do i get rid of fleas on my cockatiels?

i picked up a baby cockatiel and it has lice or ticks i dont know what it is what do you guys use to get them off

First of all they are mites. And if it was an adult you could get a spray at the pet store. But you can not use it on babies or on the parents. You need to call an avian vet and ask what is the best solution...they'll usually tell you over the phone. Be sure to tell them how old the babies are.

Have a qualified avian vet take a look. It is rare for domestic birds to have external parasites. They can recommend a safe treatment. Over the counter products can be toxic.
