We also moved and had to give two Conures away and I was totally heartbroken. I have a picture of Sunshine and Paul Lee on the refrigerator and it has helped a little, also knowing who has them and that they are taking really good care of them has helped.
Moving very far is really hard for the bird. It is very difficult to travel with them and have them arrive safe and happy.
It has been over a year for me and I still miss them terribly and am just now THINKING about getting another one.
At first I was angry at myself and every one else about this, but then I realized that I did what was best for the BIRDS and that made me feel better.
I am so sorry that you had to do this. I know how much it hurts, but just realize that the bird is safe and being taken care of.
I wish I could take it for you. I even put a picture of my birds as a screen save for my computer.
Best of luck and it will get better I promise you.

The best thing you can do and also show you care is keep in touch with your parrots new family :-)
Write and send pictures, ask for updates or set up a web page where the new family can update and add pics so you can see him grow up :-)
Talk a walk and try to think of the exciting developments you'll see if you chose to keep in touch with them!

I use to have two parakeet, one was mine and the other was my mom's. well one day my mom told that Bernie was lonely so she put my bird Lily in her room so he wouldn't be so lonely. They made the most beautiful music together, until one day me step dad brought home acid tone which is a very dangerous chemical ( it's the same thing they use in finger nail polish ). Well it was a very hot day and the bottle busted, it killed the birds it like collapsed their bodies, when I went to go look at them their eye's were sunken in, I cried my eyes out until they were swollen. Lily was my first bird and I had gotten her for my 15Th birthday. I'm now 18 and I have two more parakeets and 3 cocktails.

S.O., I am so sorry that you had to give up your beautiful bird. I'm not sure there is anything anyone can say that is going to make you feel better. You lost something very important to you and you need to grieve that loss.
Good luck to both you and your Grey.

Oh no! I'm very sorry to hear that. :( ((HUGS))
Like someone else suggested, if possible keep in touch with the new owners and get them to give you updates and photos.
