No, he would not be banded if he was caught in the wild. Only newly hatched babies are banded

It would be virtually impossible to have the hatch date on the band unless the breeder was actually engraving the bands themselves. There is only a narrow time window in which to fit a closed band on a baby.
Bands are usually ordered at the start of the year, breeders that have a fairly good idea how many babies they will produce may order the year put on the bands. Most breeders do not want to get stuck with bands they cannot/ should not use because of a wrong year so many use I.D numbers only, in addition to their own identification.

If the band is solid, with no breaks, the baby was banded shortly after birth, and therefore was not wild-caught. If wild-caught, a solid band would not fit over the foot. The band would have a break in it.

NO!! Many breeders place bands on their birds legs to keep track of them!
