I bought my daughters one bird.. and my co-workers said it would die within a week. Well, two weeks later it was dead. When we bought TWO birds, they are still alive; after two months!
why is that?

If you own a pet Mcaw yourself how did you train it? How to stop it from biting, How to build up a long loving bond, how you can train it to peform certain tricks (especially the gun trick where you pretend to shoot him and he flips upside down), how to make him come to you with a certain command?

I was coming in to feed my two budgies and I was shocked to find one dead on the ground. Tom my other budgie was standing over him. I wondered why. They had a full supply of fresh water. They were both on a diet of Zupreem fruit pellets, They get to come out of the cage daily and love to look around for treats on the living room floor. I feel so sorry for Tom. He has had 2 BFF's including Junior. Both dead. I don't know if he can take all this change. How do you think Junior died? and will Tom be ok?

I started out with two zebra finches. Cool. Well, they hatched three babies about a month ago. Just as these are ready to go, I found four more eggs in a little round thing that used to hold millet. I didn't even notice them building another nest! Well, I've determined that it was the original parents who have mated so its not inbreeding. But now I'm worried about taking the three younger finches out of the cage because its so violent trying to catch one that I'm afraid it will disturb the second nest. The millet holder hangs from the top of the cage and it is in front of the door so anytime I do anything it swings. This cage is going to have 9 birds in it when these eggs are hatched and I think I'm ready to stop the insanity. What can I do to get the young birds out of the cage? And how can I trick the parents into not mating?

I have just been cutting a large hedge and came across a birds nest. I couldnt see if there was anything inside the nest.

I stopped cutting immediatley, but wonder if there could still be chicks/eggs still inside the nest. I have heard that if you go near a nest the mother won't go back to it.

Just before I came across the nest I heard a bird chirping wildly.

I'm hoping that most birds will have flown their nests by now. Is that right please?

Hi, so I need some help. In my back yard we have a little baby pool for my dog, and just a few minutes ago I was outside with my dog, and I saw her pull something out of the pool, and when I looked it was a bird. The thing is the bird was still breathing. So my mother picked up the bird with paper towels and now has it drying in a makeshift "nest" of paper towels. I think it's some sort of finch, and it looks pretty young. It's still breathing, but it looks exhausted. I just wanted to see what else I can do for the bird to try and help it survive? Thanks

My in-laws have a nice little duck pond they have made behind their house and have bought 6 ducks to put out there for it. They have to pen the ducks up at night because if they don't owls from the area will chop the ducks heads off. Why? I don't know but they will, so they have to keep them caged? They are having a very hard time scaring the ducks out of the water at the end of the day to cage them up. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas to get them out and into their cage. Thanks for any answers.

I found it in my backyard chirpping and looking for its parents but it cant really fly yet. I think the nest is all the way up this giant tree that i cant get to. Should i keep it or leave it? I want to help it survive because without me it will die because it cant fully fly yet and already fell in my pool once. Help!

I was wanting to make some bird toys myself. Does anyone know of some bird safe products that I could buy at any regular store to make them. The toys are for my 2 cockatiels that love toys that will make noise (like bells) and also with anything they can chew on.

My friend has a love bird that's about 4 years old. The bird has had two previous owners and while I don't think it was abused, I think it was basically left in it's cage without any attention.

While in it's cage the bird is very aggressive. When you try to reach in the cage it will bite you very hard if you try to get too close. But once you get the bird out of it's cage and spend a few minutes holding it, it calms way down. I used a glove to get the bird out of it's cage and then held it in my hand while I scratched it's head and rubbed it's beak. After just a few minutes the bird stopped biting me and seemed to be very comfortable and relaxed. It would fly to it's cage after a few minutes, but as long as it couldn't get inside I was able to pick it up again without any problems. Really it started acting like you would expect a hand-fed bird to act.

But once it got back in it's cage it immediately switched back to being very aggressive.

My cockatiel layed 2 eggs, I know how to check if their fertile or not but whenever i even put my hand in the cage she gets overprotective and tries to bite me. Even when she's not on the eggs she goes crazy. what should I do?
also i don't know if this is right, but are you supposed to pick up the eggs and shine a flashlight through them and if you see veins or blood vessels their fertile. but i dont know about that because alot of people say even with household pet birds they will reject the egg if it has a human scent on it.and my parents say i should use gloves, is this information right if not can you tell me all or some of the waays to check if the eggs are fertile. what should i do?
sorry about all the spelling and quotation messups.
