put them in two seperate cages but put the cages next to each other and let them slowly get used to each other!

Grant, definatley keep them apart for a few weeks. You never know if one bird is carrying a disease the other may get. Also, they shouldn't be "together" until you are sure one wont bite the toes off the other. Put their cages side by side and offer them the same treats at the same time. When you talk to one, talk to the other. Eventually they will be best buddies. Good luck.

Well first of all! you are supposed to quarantine the new budgie in a seperate cage for 30 days and take it to the vet just in case it has any sort of disease ,it wont transmit it to the other one.,fighting in budgies is acceptable as long as no blood is being drawn they should be fine. This is called the pecking order ,they are seeing who is more dominant.

They are both juveniles. They are playing and communicating! They aren't drawing blood, are they? They just need some time to get used to each other, that's all! If they start wounding each other, then you must separate them. Be patient. Things should calm down shortly.
