When you bring a bird home, if it has an underlying illness it comes out within 4 weeks of your bringing the bird home. The stress of the move to a new home causes the amune system to drop & anything that is wrong will appear soon after. This is usually the reason for birds dying so soon after taking them home.
Second most common reason for a budgie to die 2 weeks after you bring it home is you've fed it something that is poisonous to the bird.
Young budgies don't die from being lonely. A young budgie is still young, not bonded to anything or anyone & therefore not yet fully adapted to a routinal lifestyle of 1 owner or another bird for a mate.
It is not common for a budgie to die within 2 week of bringing it home, you should've got your money back or another bird.
Budgies can & have lived alone very happily as long as they get interaction with the owner. No interaction doesn't kill the bird, it does give the bird behaviours EG: feather plucking, screaming.

My parakeet lived in a cage by herself for 8 years. BUT, she came out every day, played with me and played with my cockatiel. They need attention and companionship... it isn't about one or two, its about the quality of care you give them. Also, consider that there might have been something wrong with the single bird you bought.

Ive had pet birds all my life and only one at a time. You must have got a sick one, it has nothing to do with whether you have one or two. If you want proper advise about your birds, ask an avian vet or at least ask someone that really knows what their talking about. Hope you at least did the research on proper care for them.

Because your first bird was sick. I've had single budgies and they lived for years just fine. They do not need a buddy but they seem to enjoy company.

i doubt that every single time they are singly bought the keet will die. my sister kept one a few years ago and it didnt die. parakeets that are kept singly need a lot of attention. maybe it wasnt getting enuf attention or maybe somthing happened that u didnt notice like if u were painting a different room it wouldve died from the fumes. but it shouldnt have died that quickly...hmm
