HELP! I just bought 2 parakeets about 4 hours ago. They had to ride home for 4 hours. They seemed fine on the way, they were chirping and all, but when I got home and picked up their cage and brought them in, they didn't seem right. One of them is blue and the other is green. My blue one is a little stressed I guess, but it is sitting on the post. My green one is the one I am concerned about. It is sitting on the bottom of the cage doing absolutley nothing. It looks puffed up, like it is scrunching together. It is also pooping but it is green and runny. What does this mean? What should I do?

I wasn't allowed to keep 'normal' pets growing up because my brother was terribly allergic. One Easter, I recieved baby chicks (Rhode Island red hen and rooster, and a Pearl White Leghorn) and I just fell in love with them since. At the moment I have two black Australorps and a New Hamshire red, all hens. They produce beautiful eggs for me. Who else out there loves chickens and think of them as wonderful pets? :-)

I have two zebra finches. One girl one boy. I came back after a two hour trip to town to find all their wooden perches with what seems like blood stains on them. Both their vents and bottoms are clean as usual and there is no change in behaviour. The blood (if it really is blood) washes off easily off the perches. I don't know what to do. What could have caused this? Please help!

I started a birdlist 4 days ago. I did keep one until I was about 14 . It got lost since then. I believe I had around 200. In the last 4 days I've seen 23 different species. all from my front porch I should add I live in a wooded area so what Isee most are woodland species.

Previous question:
hi there, the wind today is strong, and a friend of mine found a baby swallow fell down from trees near his classroom. He afraid tht it would die of coldness so he brought it home. Now, he put it into an opened box, cushioned with soft cloth. The baby swallow didnt chirp or call at all since it fell down, he checked the swallow, there's no any injuries. Now the problem is, it doesnt want to eat anything, he tried apples, worms...but it jst doesnt respond... ...
I've read a similar Q&A, and we are worrying will it die of hunger or its parents wont recognise it by tmr...as he found it in school...
so, what should we do?

thanks~~
and hope it'll survive...

***thanks for the answers friends

but we are living in Malaysia...there's hardly a vet clinic or even a rescue center here... ...
how?it has fully developed feathers. some students said they saw a swallow flew into the class n flew away abt 200m ,wonder it was it..but even water with syringe it also deosnt respond

Oh gosh, I'm devastated right now. :( :(

This evening four of my beautiful zebra finches escaped. One of them hung around for ages trying to get back into the aviary, I had a net and tried to catch him, I was so close.

I know I will probably never see them again, but I want to still try. I put a cage with food on top of the aviary, what else can I do?

Also, two of the finches that escaped were the parents of an unweaned fledgling! I want to try and handrear it myself or keep it alive somehow, but I don't have the equipment or the knowledge! :( Do zebra finches adopt fledglings, by any chance? :(

I also need hugs. :(

I've been wanting to get a bird for a long time and am debating between one of these five types of birds. (I would be willing to get a cage-mate if I must. ^^) They are expensive, after all. I'm looking for a bird that likes to be handled (but will be alright if I go out for a weekend; i.e. a couple of days), and is not too noisy. I do realize that parrotlets don't like to be handled so much as the other birds I mentioned. At the moment, I am leaning towards the linnies. Currently, I work at a pet store and we have a number of exotic birds. I'm just so conflicted! On some background info, I've never owned an exotic bird, but as I mentioned before, I care for all my stores birds every morning and evening. (I realize the difference of caring for a bird and owning one.) On a side note, I don't know minute details of the differences between the birds, so any help or advice will be appreciated! I do know basic care for parrots as I mentioned. :)
