How do hens continue to provide eggs without a male.

Hens and birds in general produce eggs. So do women, we produce ova, without having had sex. The ova get destroyed in women when we have our period. The hens lay them, it's the same. If the hen has had sex, and the egg is fertilised, a bird comes out. If not, it is just the egg. Same as humans!

Hens continue to lay eggs without a male in the same way that women continue to have periods without a male. The eggs are continuously produced - you only need a male if they need to be fertilised.
