I had a pair of doves lay two eggs in my tree now 10 days later?

Question

after 10 days the whole nest is empty. the tree is a long palm tree . can doves move eggs or did a possum climb the tree, no signs of shells

Sounds like a snake to me. They are famous for raiding nests to eat fledglings and/or newly layed eggs.

I never knew snakes could climb trees, until I saw it first hand. Hopefully your doves will try the "parent thing" again and this time, the snake won't find it's way to the nest.

It sounds like something got the eggs; as far as I know, a dove has no means to move her eggs to a different location. I'd leave the nest alone for now; since the shells are gone, it's possible that the doves have "cleaned house" and are planning to lay a new clutch.

Nope your right they can't move the eggs, either they were infertile, the birds seem to have some sense and know this, the birds eat the egg shell, or it was a 'good egg' but dies the parent know this also.

If the parents haven't come back then there probably was some kind of predator took the eggs and they will be too scared to return.
