Hey everyone.
I found a very very small egg on the floor of the chicken coop today. I mean it was small, probably about and inch long. I have five pullets (approximantly 4 months old) was it one of them that layed it, or was it one of my bantams? How old are chickens before they start laying? Do thier eggs start off tiny and get bigger? Is it safe to eat? LOL Will it hatch if I put it witIh my broody bantams eggs? (I do have a rooster). This is my first time raing chickens ftom baibies, so I have never seen such a tiny egg.
Thanks for the replies!

My two pet ducks were shot in my yard by youngsters, I know they are protected by law and it is a feloney for anyone to kill or mane an animal in Louisiana. Cops can't do nothing, because the kids were 9 yrs old.

he won't touch any apple, bread, or veggies i put in the cage, he hasn't played with any of the toys, and he rarely makes any noise (only tweets when birds fly past, or he has a little chat with the tap is running really loud, or we are cooking something that sizzles...). I don't know what to do with him. I try to put my hand in the cage to get him used to me and he just flies around like a crazy bird. I really wanted to tame him, and have him come out of the cage and play...but I feel like maybe this is not going to happen. He also seems to sleep alot.
Does anyone have any constructive advice? I really want what is best for Blinky...... he is a beautiful bird, but doesnt seem to have a personality.

I live in South Florida. It is a red bird, not a cardinal. It is about the size of a blue jay. It has 2 black stripes from the eyes onto its back. Can you please help me figure out this bird? Thanks.

Open question to anyone with the knowledge or expertise/ Do Parrots have fleas or mites? My mother was given a parrot on Mother's day. It's only 4 months old but have been with us for one month only. Recently, it scratches almost everyday. And how true it is that Parrots are prone to bacteria?

I want to purchase a pair of cage-birds.
What is the best singing cage bird?
Not only will it sing often but it sings good with a wide range of tones and vocals?

I need to be able to purchase them in Canada though.

WE had a nest near our pool house and the eggs hatched last week. We noticed yesterday that the birds were looking for food each time we passed it. There were lots of people over. Today, there was only one actively asking for food. the other two were barely moving/breathing. We brought the nest in and started giving sugar water from a syringe i had from work with a fine tip. After about 3 hours, we moved onto egg yolks mixed with sugar water. The birds have eaten every 15 to 20m minutes and two are pooping normally, one has a diarhea stool. any advice. We stopped feeding 30 mintues ago and have moved them to a bed of old towels as advised in one site surrounded by hot water bottles to maintain some heat source. What should we expect to do for tomorrow and are we doing everything correctly? What can we expect for the next week/two weeks.
Thanks very much

I know this may sound silly, But we have a cockatial and have the opportunity to adopt a Parrotlet. We have a huge Parrott cage for them both to live in. We also have another smaller cage, but would they get along? Couldn't they / wouldn't they, be friends???

My birds has a personality I just can't get over!! Ive had my green cheek conure, Kiwi, for about 6 years now. He/She has really come out of his shell in the last 2 years. He is talkative....only knows about 5 words but loves to laugh and bark. This morning I went back to sleep on the couch and his cage is very near the couch...all i hear is him whispering Hi Kiwi, Pretty Bird and then cracking. He is sooo cute...is he unusually sweet or do any of you have birds like this? Any stories? He is my first bird Ive ever owned..a gift from grandparents.

we have a baby chick [5days old] when it hatched it was thrown out of its nest and left in the cold for approx 2 hours. we brought it home and nursed it back to good health. the problem is, all the other chicks that hatched at the same time are full of life but this one just stands and wont move. it can walk and chirp but just wants to stay with its mum. when we feed them the mum runs to the food and calls the chicks over but this one just walks to its mum and sits back under her again.its hardly eating. could it have brain damage from being in the cold for so long? is there anything we can do?
ive searched the net but cant find anything on this.

My cockatiel is about 16 weeks and is still not weaned. The vet saids the bird is about a month behind because I had to take him as soon as he hatched because they killed the first two that had hatched. I just don't know why he won't wean. He is starting to take the formula from my hand and he picks at the seeds, pallets, and mallets I put in the cage. I just don't know if he is eating it or playing with it. He doesn't take as much formula as he did and I'm worried about him. Please Help!!

Yesterday a bird perched in our tree for a long time. We live in southwestern Ohio but I have never seen this species before. It appeared to me a passerine. Slightly larger than a mockingbird. Light grey head, wings and tail. Faint roufous patch on wings (?secondaries) and darker grey, almost black at the tips of the primaries. The bill was about three-fourths of an inch perhaps longer, yellow underneath with a black stripe on top. It was slightly downward curved. The breast, belly and sides were snow white. The tail was similar to that of a mocking bird, also grey, but with white patches along the distal outer tail feathers. The legs were pale grey.
Any ideas?

I just got him today, i didn't notice it at the pet store but when i got him home i saw that his nail was broken and had some dry blood on it. I left him in his cage and came back about 20 minutes later and saw the the entire nail just came off and some blood on the cage. Will his nail grow back to normal? Also, my other birds don't like him the first ten minutes were filled with rejection. None of my other keets want him anywhere near. Should I seperate them or is just normal?

I work at a marine center and this guy i was bringing to his boat found 3 duck eggs in his boat. He told me to leave them on the dock for an animal to eat. I thought this was terrible so i brought them home. My dad is probably getting an incubator today but for now i put them under a lamp. What does it mean to turn the egg? And also, how do i know how hot it is under the lamp? any thing else i need to know
